93f1cc609c powerpc: Fix mktree build error on Mac OS X host

9fffb55f66 Move dtc and libfdt sources from arch/powerpc/boot to scripts/dtc
The powerpc kernel always requires an Open Firmware like device tree
to supply device information. On systems without OF, this comes from
a flattened device tree blob. This blob is usually generated by dtc,
a tool which compiles a text description of the device tree into the
flattened format used by the kernel. Sometimes, the bootwrapper makes
small changes to the pre-compiled device tree blob (e.g. filling in
the size of RAM). To do this it uses the libfdt library.

Because these are only used on powerpc, the code for both these tools
is included under arch/powerpc/boot (these were imported and are
periodically updated from the upstream dtc tree).

However, the microblaze architecture, currently being prepared for
merging to mainline also uses dtc to produce device tree blobs. A few
other archs have also mentioned some interest in using dtc.
Therefore, this patch moves dtc and libfdt from arch/powerpc into
scripts, where it can be used by any architecture.

The vast bulk of this patch is a literal move, the rest is adjusting
the various Makefiles to use dtc and libfdt correctly from their new
locations.

644e28f342 powerpc/44x: Correct memory size calculation for denali-based boards
Some U-Boot versions incorrectly set the number of chipselects to two
for Sequoia/Rainier boards while they only have one chipselect hardwired.
This patch adds a workaround for this, hardcoding the number of chipselects
to one for sequioa/rainer board models and reading the actual value from
the memory controller register DDR0_10 otherwise.

It also fixes another error in the way ibm4xx_denali_fixup_memsize
calculates memory size. When testing the DDR_REDUC bit, the polarity is
backwards. A "1" implies 32-bit wide memory while a "0" implies 64-bit
wide memory.

125a00d74e powerpc/83xx: Add power management support for MPC837x boards
This patch adds pmc nodes to the device tree files so that the boards
will able to use standby capability of MPC837x processors. The MPC837x
PMC controllers are compatible with MPC8349 ones (i.e. no deep sleep).

sleep = <> properties are used to specify SCCR masks as described
in "Specifying Device Power Management Information (sleep property)"
chapter in Documentation/powerpc/booting-without-of.txt.

Since I2C1 and eSDHC controllers share the same clock source, they
are now placed under sleep-nexus nodes.

A processor is able to wakeup the boards on LAN events (Wake-On-Lan),
console events (with no_console_suspend kernel command line), GPIO
events and external IRQs (IRQ1 and IRQ2).

The processor can also wakeup the boards by the fourth general purpose
timer in GTM1 block, but the GTM wakeup support isn't yet implemented
(it's tested to work, but it's unclear how can we use the quite short
GTM timers, and how do we want to expose the GTM to userspace).

madness. Editorial changes were made to keep the all the

between them only show the real differences between the boards.
The pcm030 device tree was most affected by this because many
of the comments had been changed from // to /* */ style and
some cell values where changed from decimal to hex format when

6c9789de2a powerpc/83xx: Make serial ports work on MPC8315E-RDB w/ FSL U-Boots
FSL U-Boots use /soc8315@e0000000 node to search and fixup serial
nodes' clock-frequency properties. Though in upstream kernels we use
new naming convention -- for IMMR address space dts files specify
/immr@e0000000 nodes.

This makes FSL U-Boots fail to fixup the clock frequencies, and that
leads to serial ports misbehaviour. We can workaround the issue by
filling the clock frequency values manually.

p.s. For the same reason FSL U-Boots fail to fixup MAC addresses for
ethernet nodes, so users should either change the .dts file locally
or set MAC address via `ifconfig hw ether' command.

29f1aff2cc powerpc: Copy bootable images in the default install script
This patch makes the default install script (arch/powerpc/boot/install.sh)
copy the bootable image files into the install directory. Before this
patch only the vmlinux image file was copied.

This patch makes the default 'make install' command useful for embedded
development when $(INSTALL_PATH) is set in the environment.

As a side effect, this patch changes the calling convention of the
install.sh script. Instead of a single 5th parameter, the script is now
passed a list of all the target images stored in the $(image-y) Makefile
variable. This should be backwards compatible with existing install scripts
since it just adds additional arguments and does not change existing ones.

796bcae736 USB: powerpc: Workaround for the PPC440EPX USBH_23 errata [take 3]
A published errata for ppc440epx states, that when running Linux with
both EHCI and OHCI modules loaded, the EHCI module experiences a fatal
error when a high-speed device is connected to the USB2.0, and
functions normally if OHCI module is not loaded.

There used to be recommendation to use only hi-speed or full-speed
devices with specific conditions, when respective module was unloaded.
Later, it was observed that ohci suspend is enough to keep things
going, and it was turned into workaround, as explained below.

Quote from original descriprion:

The 440EPx USB 2.0 Host controller is an EHCI compliant controller. In
USB 2.0 Host controllers, each EHCI controller has one or more companion
controllers, which may be OHCI or UHCI. An USB 2.0 Host controller will
contain one or more ports. For each port, only one of the controllers
is connected at any one time. In the 440EPx, there is only one OHCI
companion controller, and only one USB 2.0 Host port.
All ports on an USB 2.0 controller default to the companion
controller. If you load only an ohci driver, it will have control of
the ports and any deviceplugged in will operate, although high speed
devices will be forced to operate at full speed. When an ehci driver
is loaded, it explicitly takes control of the ports. If there is a
device connected, and / or every time there is a new device connected,
the ehci driver determines if the device is high speed or not. If it
is high speed, the driver retains control of the port. If it is not,
the driver explicitly gives the companion controller control of the
port.

The is a software workaround that uses
Initial version of the software workaround was posted to
linux-usb-devel:

http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-usb-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg54019.html

and later available from amcc.com:
http://www.amcc.com/Embedded/Downloads/download.html?cat=1&family=15&ins=2

The patch below is generally based on the latter, but reworked to
powerpc/of_device USB drivers, and uses a few devicetree inquiries to
get rid of (some) hardcoded defines.

def434c231 powerpc/cell: add QPACE as a separate Cell platform
Since the QPACE (Chromodynamics Parallel Computing on the
Cell Broadband Engine) platform doesn't use a iommu, doesn't
have PCI devices and a MPIC much lesser setup and
configurations are needed. So far all devices are detected
as OF device. A notifier function is used to set the dma_ops
for the of_platform bus. Further this patch splits the
PPC_CELL_NATIVE into PPC_CELL_COMMON which are parts that are
shared with the QPACE platform and the rest.

With this patch the L2 cache is enabled on Canyonlands to increase the

0dcd440120 powerpc: Revert CHRP boot wrapper to real-base = 12MB on 32-bit
Commit 9b09c6d909 ("powerpc: Change the

real-base value in the CHRP note added by addnote to the zImage from
12MB to 32MB. It turns out that this causes unnecessary extra reboots
on old 32-bit CHRP machines. This therefore adds a -r flag to addnote
to allow us to specify what real-base value it should put in the CHRP
note, and adjusts the wrapper script to pass -r c00000 to addnote when
making a zImage for a CHRP machine. Also, CHRP machines ignore the
RPA note, so we don't need to arrange for it to be the same as the
kernel's.

The Freescale Elo DMA driver binds to all DMA channels in the device tree that

5b70a09705 powerpc: 83xx: pci: Remove need for get_immrbase from mpc83xx_add_bridge.
Modify mpc83xx_add_bridge to get config space register base address from
the device tree instead of immr + hardcoded offset.

83xx pci nodes have this change:
register properties now contain two address length tuples:
First is the pci bridge register base, this has always been there.
Second is the config base, this is new.

This is documented in dts-bindings/fsl/83xx-512x-pci.txt

The changes accomplish these things:
mpc83xx_add_bridge no longer needs to call get_immrbase
it uses hard coded addresses if the second register value is missing

91a0030295 powerpc: Sync RPA note in zImage with kernel's RPA note
Commit 9b09c6d909 ("powerpc: Change the
default link address for pSeries zImage kernels") changed the
real-base value in the CHRP note added by the addnote program from
12MB to 32MB to give more space for Open Firmware to load the zImage.
(The real-base value says where we want OF to position itself in
memory.) However, this change was ineffective on most pSeries
machines, because the RPA note added by addnote has the "ignore me"
flag set to 1. This was intended to tell OF to ignore just the RPA
note, but has the side effect of also making OF ignore the CHRP note
(at least on most pSeries machines).

To solve this we have to set the "ignore me" flag to 0 in the RPA
note. (We can't just omit the RPA note because that is equivalent to
having an RPA note with default values, and the default values are not
what we want.) However, then we have to make sure the values in the
zImage's RPA note match up with the values that the kernel supplies
later in prom_init.c with either the ibm,client-architecture-support
call or the process-elf-header call in prom_send_capabilities().

So this sets the "ignore me" flag in the RPA note in addnote to 0, and
adjusts the RPA note values in addnote.c and in prom_init.c to be
consistent with each other and with the values in ibm_architecture_vec.

However, since the wrapper is independent of the kernel, this doesn't
ensure that the notes will stay consistent. To ensure that, this adds
code to addnote.c so that it can extract the kernel's RPA note from
the kernel binary and put that in the zImage. To that end, we put the
kernel's fake ELF header (which contains the kernel's RPA note) into
its own section, and arrange for wrapper to pull out that section with
objcopy and pass it to addnote, which then extracts the RPA note from
it and transfers it to the zImage.

ad611045ce powerpc: Fix PCI in Holly device tree
The PCI bridge on the Holly board is incorrectly represented in the
device tree. The current device tree node for the PCI bridge sits
under the tsi-bridge node. That's not obviously wrong, but the PCI
bridge translates some PCI spaces into CPU address ranges which were
not translated by the "ranges" property in tsi-bridge node.

We used to get away with this problem because the PCI bridge discovery
code was also buggy, assuming incorrectly that PCI host bridge nodes
were always directly under the root bus and treating the translated
addresses as raw CPU addresses, rather than parent bus addresses.
This has since been fixed, thus breaking Holly.

This could be fixed by adding extra translations to the tsi-bridge
node, but this patch instead moves the Holly PCI bridge out of the
tsi-bridge node to the root bus. This makes the tsi-bridge node
represent only the built-in IO devices in the bridge, with a
more-or-less contiguous address range. This is the same convention
used on Freescale SoC chips, where the "soc" node represents only the
IMMR region, and the PCI and other bus bridges are separate nodes
under the root bus.

549e8152de powerpc: Make the 64-bit kernel as a position-independent executable
This implements CONFIG_RELOCATABLE for 64-bit by making the kernel as
a position-independent executable (PIE) when it is set. This involves
processing the dynamic relocations in the image in the early stages of
booting, even if the kernel is being run at the address it is linked at,
since the linker does not necessarily fill in words in the image for
which there are dynamic relocations. (In fact the linker does fill in
such words for 64-bit executables, though not for 32-bit executables,
so in principle we could avoid calling relocate() entirely when we're
running a 64-bit kernel at the linked address.)

The dynamic relocations are processed by a new function relocate(addr),
where the addr parameter is the virtual address where the image will be
run. In fact we call it twice; once before calling prom_init, and again
when starting the main kernel. This means that reloc_offset() returns
0 in prom_init (since it has been relocated to the address it is running
at), which necessitated a few adjustments.

This also changes __va and __pa to use an equivalent definition that is
simpler. With the relocatable kernel, PAGE_OFFSET and MEMORY_START are
constants (for 64-bit) whereas PHYSICAL_START is a variable (and
KERNELBASE ideally should be too, but isn't yet).

With this, relocatable kernels still copy themselves down to physical
address 0 and run there.

Current HPCD's device tree specify that IDE interrupt is low to high
sensitive, but in practice ULi IDE throws active-high interrupts (not
active-low as all normal PCI devices).

4df64c3e58 powerpc/mpc5121: Update device tree for MPC5121ADS evaluation board
Current device tree is only bare bones. This patch adds nodes to make
it a complete tree for the MPC5121ads.

Added nodes include:
    mbx - opengl coprocessor
    nfc - nand flash controller
    cpld-pic - on board cpld
    rtc
    clock - clock control
    pmc - power management control
    gpio
    mscan - can module
    i2c
    axe - audio coprocessor
    display - display interface unit
    mdio
    ethernet
    usb
    ioctl - pin config
    pata
    ac97 - PSC configured as AC97
    pscfifo - psc fifo configuration
    dma
    pci

Fix typo in header changing MDS to ADS.

Add a compatible property of the form "fsl,mpc5121-..."
to nodes missing one.

Changed localbus compatible to fsl,mpc5121-localbus, this does
not break anything because the only code that uses it finds it
via the node name, not compatible.

05781ccd74 ibm_newemac: Parameterize EMAC Multicast Match Handling
Various instances of the EMAC core have varying: 1) number of address
match slots, 2) width of the registers for handling address match slots,
3) number of registers for handling address match slots and 4) base
offset for those registers.

As the driver stands today, it assumes that all EMACs have 4 IAHT and
GAHT 32-bit registers, starting at offset 0x30 from the register base,
with only 16-bits of each used for a total of 64 match slots.

The 405EX(r) and 460EX now use the EMAC4SYNC core rather than the EMAC4
core. This core has 8 IAHT and GAHT registers, starting at offset 0x80
from the register base, with ALL 32-bits of each used for a total of
256 match slots.

This adds a new compatible device tree entry "emac4sync" and a new,
related feature flag "EMAC_FTR_EMAC4SYNC" along with a series of macros
and inlines which supply the appropriate parameterized value based on
the presence or absence of the EMAC4SYNC feature.

The code has further been reworked where appropriate to use those macros
and inlines.

In addition, the register size passed to ioremap is now taken from the
device tree:

	c4 for EMAC4SYNC cores
	74 for EMAC4 cores
	70 for EMAC cores

rather than sizeof (emac_regs).

Finally, the device trees have been updated with the appropriate compatible
entries and resource sizes.

This has been tested on an AMCC Haleakala board such that: 1) inbound
ICMP requests to 'haleakala.local' via MDNS from both Mac OS X 10.4.11
and Ubuntu 8.04 systems as well as 2) outbound ICMP requests from
'haleakala.local' to those same systems in the '.local' domain via MDNS
now work.

71f349799b [POWERPC] Convert remaining dts-v0 files to v1
At the moment we have a mixture of left-over version 0 and new-format

confusing to people new to the dts format attempting to figure it out.

So, this patch converts all the as-yet unconverted dts v0 files and
converts them to v1. They're mechanically-converted, and not hand
tweaked so in some cases they're not 100% in keeping with usual v1
style, but the convertor program does have some heuristics so the
discrepancies aren't too bad.

I have checked that this patch produces no changes to the resulting

controller only returns the valid portion of a read request, the bridge
will prevent other PLB masters from completing their transactions.

This implements the recommended workaround for this errata for chips that
use older versions of firmware that do not already handle it. The last
4KiB of memory are hidden from the kernel to prevent the problem
transactions from occurring.

9b53a9e28a fbdev: powerpc: driver for Freescale 8610 and 5121 DIU
The following features are supported:
plane 0 works as a regular frame buffer, can be accessed by /dev/fb0
plane 1 has two AOIs (area of interest), can be accessed by /dev/fb1 and /dev/fb2
plane 2 has two AOIs, can be accessed by /dev/fb3 and /dev/fb4
Special ioctls support AOIs

All /dev/fb* can be used as regular frame buffer devices, except hardware
change can only be made through /dev/fb0. Changing pixel clock has no effect
on other fbs.

Limitation of usage of AOIs:
AOIs on the same plane can not be horizonally overlapped
AOIs have horizonal order, i.e. AOI0 should be always on top of AOI1
AOIs can not beyond phisical display area. Application should check AOI geometry
before changing physical resolution on /dev/fb0

required command line parameters to preallocate memory for frame buffer diufb.

optional command line parameters to set modes and monitor
video=fslfb:[resolution][,bpp][,monitor]
Syntax:

Resolution
xres x yres-bpp@refresh_rate, the -bpp and @refresh_rate are optional
eg, 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1280x1024-32, 1280x1024@60, 1280x1024-32@60, 1280x480-32@60

Bpp
bpp=32, bpp=24, or bpp=16

Monitor
monitor=0, monitor=1, monitor=2
0 is DVI
1 is Single link LVDS
2 is Double link LVDS

Note: switching monitor is a board feather, not DIU feather. MPC8610HPCD has three
monitor ports to swtich to. MPC5121ADS doesn't have additional monitor port. So switching
monirot port for MPC5121ADS has no effect.

ecc6cd73b7 [POWERPC] Start removing linux,network-index in favour of aliases
This patch alters the bootwrapper for a number of machines (roubhly
all 4xx based cuboot or treeboot platforms) to use aliases instead of
the linux,network-index hack to work out which MAC address to attach
to which ethernet device node.

The now obsolete linux,network-index properties are removed from the
corresponding device trees. This won't break backwards compatiblity,
because in cases where this fixup code is relevant, the device tree is
part of the kernel image.

The references to linux,network-index are removed from
booting-without-of.txt. Not only is it now deprecated, but as a hack
applicable only when the device tree blob and fixup code were in the
same image, this property never belonged in booting-without-of.txt
which describes the interface between the kernel and firmware or
bootloaders which produce a device tree. By the time the device tree
reaches the kernel, all the MAC addresses must be fully filled in.

2543133381 [POWERPC] bootwrapper: Build multiple cuImages
Currently, the kernel uses CONFIG_DEVICE_TREE to wrap a kernel image
with a fdt blob which means for any given configuration only one dts
file can be selected and so support for only one board can be built

This moves the selection of the default .dts file out of the kernel
config and into the bootwrapper makefile. The makefile chooses which
images to build based on the kernel config and the dts source file
name is taken directly from the image name. For example "cuImage.ebony"
will use "ebony.dts" as the device tree source file.

In addition, this patch allows a specific image to be requested from the
command line by adding "cuImage.%" and "treeImage.%" targets to the list
of valid built targets in arch/powerpc/Makefile. This allows the default
dts selection to be overridden.

Another advantage to this change is it allows a single defconfig to be
supplied for all boards using the same chip family and only differing in
the device tree.

Important note: This patch adds two new zImage targets; zImage.dtb.% and
zImage.dtb.initrd.% for zImages with embedded dtb files. Currently
there are 5 platforms which require this: ps3, ep405, mpc885ads, ep88xc,
adder875-redboot and ep8248e. This patch *changes the zImage filenames*
for those platforms. ie. 'zImage.ps3' is now 'zImage.dtb.ps3'.

This new zImage.dtb targets were added so that the .dts file could be
part of the dependancies list for building them.

The mpc8315_rdb mpc834x_mds, mpc837[789]_*, and sbc8349 were already
dts-v1 and only undergo minor changes for the sake of formatting
consistency across the whole group of boards; i.e. the idea being
that you can do a "diff -u board_A.dts board_B.dts" and see something
meaningful.

The general rule I've applied is that entries for values normally
parsed by humans are left in decimal (i.e. IRQ, cache size, clock
rates, basic counts and indexes) and all other data (i.e. reg and
ranges, IRQ flags etc.) remain in hex.

I've used dtc to confirm that the output prior to this changeset

22258fa40e [POWERPC] Enable RTC for Ebony and Walnut (v2)
This patch extends the Ebony and Walnut platform code to instantiate
the existing ds1742 RTC class driver for the DS1743 RTC/NVRAM chip
found on both those boards. The patch uses a helper function to scan
the device tree and instantiate the appropriate platform_device based
on it, so it should be easy to extend for other boards which have mmio
mapped RTC chips.

Along with this, the device tree binding for the ds1743 chips is
tweaked, based on the existing DS1385 OF binding found at:
	http://playground.sun.com/1275/proposals/Closed/Remanded/Accepted/346-it.txt
Although that document covers the NVRAM portion of the chip, whereas
here we're interested in the RTC portion, so it's not entirely clear
if that's a good model.

This implements only RTC class driver support - that is /dev/rtc0, not
/dev/rtc, and the low-level get/set time callbacks remain
unimplemented. That means in order to get at the clock you will
either need a modified version of hwclock which will look at
/dev/rtc0, or you'll need to configure udev to symlink rtc0 to rtc.

accf5ef254 [POWERPC] 4xx: Add 440SPe revA runtime detection to PCIe
This patch adds runtime detection of the 440SPe revision A chips. These
chips are equipped with a slighly different PCIe core and need special/
different initialization. The compatible node is changed to
"plb-pciex-440spe" ("A" and "B" dropped). This is needed for boards that
can be equipped with both PPC revisions like the AMCC Yucca.

5be9419ac6 [POWERPC] 4xx: remove bogus "ranges" property in Bamboo EBC node
This removes a bogus empty "ranges" property in the EBC device node
of the Bamboo board device-tree.

The "ranges" property should be created by the wrapper code when it is
implemented. Until then, remove the empty property since it incorrectly
implies that there is a 1:1 address mapping between the EBC and the OPB.

This also fixes a warning from newer DTCs.

190de00538 [POWERPC] 4xx: Rework clock probing in boot wrapper
This reworks the boot wrapper library function that probes
the chip clocks. Better separate the base function that is
used on 440GX,SPe,EP,... from the uart fixups as those need
different device-tree path on different processors.

Also, rework the function itself based on the arch/ppc code
from Eugene Surovegin which I find more readable, and which
handles one more bypass case. Also handle the subtle difference
between 440EP/EPx and 440SPe/GX, on the former, PerClk is derived
from the PLB clock while on the later, it's derived from the OPB.

619740384c [POWERPC] 4xx: EP405 boards support for arch/powerpc
Brings EP405 support to arch/powerpc. The IRQ routing for the CPLD
comes from a device-tree property, PCI is working to the point where
I can see the video card, USB device, and south bridge.

This should work with both EP405 and EP405PC.

I've not totally figured out how IRQs are wired on this hardware
though, thus at this stage, expect only USB interrupts working,
pretty much the same as what arch/ppc did.

Also, the flash, nvram, rtc and temp control still have to be wired.
