83d51ab473 xen/setup: update VA mapping when releasing memory during setup
In xen_memory_setup(), if a page that is being released has a VA
mapping this must also be updated.  Otherwise, the page will be not
released completely -- it will still be referenced in Xen and won't be
freed util the mapping is removed and this prevents it from being
reallocated at a different PFN.

This was already being done for the ISA memory region in
xen_ident_map_ISA() but on many systems this was omitting a few pages
as many systems marked a few pages below the ISA memory region as
reserved in the e820 map.

This fixes errors such as:

2e2fb75475 xen/setup: Populate freed MFNs from non-RAM E820 entries and gaps to E820 RAM
When the Xen hypervisor boots a PV kernel it hands it two pieces
of information: nr_pages and a made up E820 entry.

The nr_pages value defines the range from zero to nr_pages of PFNs
which have a valid Machine Frame Number (MFN) underneath it. The
E820 mirrors that (with the VGA hole):

The fun comes when a PV guest that is run with a machine E820 - that
can either be the initial domain or a PCI PV guest, where the E820
looks like the normal thing:

With that overlaying the nr_pages directly on the E820 does not
work as there are gaps and non-RAM regions that won't be used
by the memory allocator. The 'xen_release_chunk' helps with that
by punching holes in the P2M (PFN to MFN lookup tree) for those
regions and tells us that:

Freeing  20000-20200 pfn range: 512 pages freed
Freeing  40000-40200 pfn range: 512 pages freed
Freeing  bad80-badf4 pfn range: 116 pages freed
Freeing  badf6-bae7f pfn range: 137 pages freed
Freeing  bb000-100000 pfn range: 282624 pages freed
Released 283999 pages of unused memory

Those 283999 pages are subtracted from the nr_pages and are returned
to the hypervisor. The end result is that the initial domain
boots with 1GB less memory as the nr_pages has been subtracted by
the amount of pages residing within the PCI hole. It can balloon up
to that if desired using 'xl mem-set 0 8092', but the balloon driver
is not always compiled in for the initial domain.

This patch, implements the populate hypercall (XENMEM_populate_physmap)
which increases the the domain with the same amount of pages that
were released.

The other solution (that did not work) was to transplant the MFN in
the P2M tree - the ones that were going to be freed were put in
the E820_RAM regions past the nr_pages. But the modifications to the
M2P array (the other side of creating PTEs) were not carried away.
As the hypervisor is the only one capable of modifying that and the
only two hypercalls that would do this are: the update_va_mapping
(which won't work, as during initial bootup only PFNs up to nr_pages
are mapped in the guest) or via the populate hypercall.

The end result is that the kernel can now boot with the
nr_pages without having to subtract the 283999 pages.

On a 8GB machine, with various dom0_mem= parameters this is what we get:

76a8df7b49 xen/pci: don't use PCI BIOS service for configuration space accesses
The accessing PCI configuration space with the PCI BIOS32 service does
not work in PV guests.

On systems without MMCONFIG or where the BIOS hasn't marked the
MMCONFIG region as reserved in the e820 map, the BIOS service is
probed (even though direct access is preferred) and this hangs.

which is due to the fact we are trying to access a PFN that is not
accessible to us. The reason (at least in this case) was that
PGD[256] is set to __HYPERVISOR_VIRT_START which was setup (by the
hypervisor) to point to a read-only linear map of the MFN->PFN array.
During our parsing we would get the MFN (a valid one), try to look
it up in the MFN->PFN tree and find it invalid and return ~0 as PFN.
Then pte_mfn_to_pfn would happilly feed that in, attach the flags
and return it back to the caller. 'ptdump_show' bitshifts it and
gets and invalid value that it tries to dereference.

Instead of doing all of that, we detect the ~0 case and just
return !_PAGE_PRESENT.

This bug has been in existence .. at least until 2.6.37 (yikes!)

558daa289a xen/apic: Return the APIC ID (and version) for CPU 0.
On x86_64 on AMD machines where the first APIC_ID is not zero, we get:

ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x01] lapic_id[0x10] enabled)
BIOS bug: APIC version is 0 for CPU 1/0x10, fixing up to 0x10
BIOS bug: APIC version mismatch, boot CPU: 0, CPU 1: version 10

which means that when the ACPI processor driver loads and
tries to parse the _Pxx states it fails to do as, as it
ends up calling acpi_get_cpuid which does this:

for_each_possible_cpu(i) {
        if (cpu_physical_id(i) == apic_id)
                return i;
}

And the bootup CPU, has not been found so it fails and returns -1
for the first CPU - which then subsequently in the loop that
"acpi_processor_get_info" does results in returning an error, which
means that "acpi_processor_add" failing and per_cpu(processor)
is never set (and is NULL).

That means that when xen-acpi-processor tries to load (much much
later on) and parse the P-states it gets -ENODEV from
acpi_processor_register_performance() (which tries to read
the per_cpu(processor)) and fails to parse the data.

7eb7ce4d2e xen: correctly check for pending events when restoring irq flags
In xen_restore_fl_direct(), xen_force_evtchn_callback() was being
called even if no events were pending.  This resulted in (depending on
workload) about a 100 times as many xen_version hypercalls as
necessary.

Fix this by correcting the sense of the conditional jump.

This seems to give a significant performance benefit for some
workloads.

There is some subtle tricksy "..since the check here is trying to
check both pending and masked in a single cmpw, but I think this is
correct. It will call check_events now only when the combined
mask+pending word is 0x0001 (aka unmasked, pending)." (Ian)

With this patch, we cap the amount of vCPUS that the initial domain
can run, to exactly what dom0_max_vcpus=X has specified.

In the future, if there is a hypercall that will allow a running

df88b2d96e xen/enlighten: Disable MWAIT_LEAF so that acpi-pad won't be loaded.
There are exactly four users of __monitor and __mwait:

 - cstate.c (which allows acpi_processor_ffh_cstate_enter to be called
   when the cpuidle API drivers are used. However patch
   "cpuidle: replace xen access to x86 pm_idle and default_idle"
   provides a mechanism to disable the cpuidle and use safe_halt.
 - smpboot (which allows mwait_play_dead to be called). However
   safe_halt is always used so we skip that.
 - intel_idle (same deal as above).
 - acpi_pad.c. This the one that we do not want to run as we
   will hit the below crash.

Why do we want to expose MWAIT_LEAF in the first place?
We want it for the xen-acpi-processor driver - which uploads
C-states to the hypervisor. If MWAIT_LEAF is set, the cstate.c
sets the proper address in the C-states so that the hypervisor
can benefit from using the MWAIT functionality. And that is
the sole reason for using it.

Without this patch, if a module performs mwait or monitor we
get this:

This reverts commit b960d6c43a.

If we have another thread (very likely) touched the list, we
end up hitting a problem "that the next element is wrong because
we should be able to cope with that. The problem is that the
next->next pointer would be set LIST_POISON1. " (Stefano's
comment on the patch).

Reverting for now.

940713bb2c xen/p2m: An early bootup variant of set_phys_to_machine
During early bootup we can't use alloc_page, so to allocate
leaf pages in the P2M we need to use extend_brk. For that
we are utilizing the early_alloc_p2m and early_alloc_p2m_middle
functions to do the job for us. This function follows the
same logic as set_phys_to_machine.

cef4cca551 xen/p2m: Allow alloc_p2m_middle to call reserve_brk depending on argument
For identity cases we want to call reserve_brk only on the boundary
conditions of the middle P2M (so P2M[x][y][0] = extend_brk). This is
to work around identify regions (PCI spaces, gaps in E820) which are not
aligned on 2MB regions.

However for the case were we want to allocate P2M middle leafs at the
early bootup stage, irregardless of this alignment check we need some
means of doing that.  For that we provide the new argument.

The reason we are dying is b/c the call acpi_get_override_irq() is used,
which returns the polarity and trigger for the IRQs. That function calls
mp_find_ioapics to get the 'struct ioapic' structure - which along with the
mp_irq[x] is used to figure out the default values and the polarity/trigger
overrides. Since the mp_find_ioapics now returns -1 [b/c the IOAPIC is filled
with 0xffffffff], the acpi_get_override_irq() stops trying to lookup in the
mp_irq[x] the proper INT_SRV_OVR and we can't install the SCI interrupt.

The proper fix for this is going in v3.5 and adds an x86_io_apic_ops
struct so that platforms can override it. But for v3.4 lets carry this
work-around. This patch does that by providing a slightly different variant
of the fake IOAPIC entries.

48cdd8287f xen/cpufreq: Disable the cpu frequency scaling drivers from loading.
By using the functionality provided by "[CPUFREQ]: provide
disable_cpuidle() function to disable the API."

Under the Xen hypervisor we do not want the initial domain to exercise
the cpufreq scaling drivers. This is b/c the Xen hypervisor is
in charge of doing this as well and we can end up with both the
Linux kernel and the hypervisor trying to change the P-states
leading to weird performance issues.

73c154c60b xen/enlighten: Expose MWAIT and MWAIT_LEAF if hypervisor OKs it.
For the hypervisor to take advantage of the MWAIT support it needs
to extract from the ACPI _CST the register address. But the
hypervisor does not have the support to parse DSDT so it relies on
the initial domain (dom0) to parse the ACPI Power Management information
and push it up to the hypervisor. The pushing of the data is done
by the processor_harveset_xen module which parses the information that
the ACPI parser has graciously exposed in 'struct acpi_processor'.

For the ACPI parser to also expose the Cx states for MWAIT, we need
to expose the MWAIT capability (leaf 1). Furthermore we also need to
expose the MWAIT_LEAF capability (leaf 5) for cstate.c to properly
function.

The hypervisor could expose these flags when it traps the XEN_EMULATE_PREFIX
operations, but it can't do it since it needs to be backwards compatible.
Instead we choose to use the native CPUID to figure out if the MWAIT
capability exists and use the XEN_SET_PDC query hypercall to figure out
if the hypervisor wants us to expose the MWAIT_LEAF capability or not.

Note: The XEN_SET_PDC query was implemented in c/s 23783:
"ACPI: add _PDC input override mechanism".

With this in place, instead of
 C3 ACPI IOPORT 415
we get now
 C3:ACPI FFH INTEL MWAIT 0x20

Note: The cpu_idle which would be calling the mwait variants for idling
never gets set b/c we set the default pm_idle to be the hypercall variant.

Using of PAT to change pages from WB to WC works quite nicely.
Changing it back to WB - not so much. The crux of the matter is
that the code that does this (__page_change_att_set_clr) has only
limited information so when it tries to the change it gets
the "raw" unfiltered information instead of the properly filtered one -
and the "raw" one tell it that PSE bit is on (while infact it
is not).  As a result when the PTE is set to be WB from WC, we get

But since that posting has gone nowhere I am proposing
this band-aid solution so that at least users don't get
the page corruption (the pages that are WC don't get changed to WB
and end up being recycled for filesystem or other things causing
mysterious crashes).

The negative impact of this patch is that users of WC flag
(which are InfiniBand, radeon, nouveau drivers) won't be able
to set that flag - so they are going to see performance degradation.
But stability is more important here.

2113f46916 xen: use this_cpu_xxx replace percpu_xxx funcs
percpu_xxx funcs are duplicated with this_cpu_xxx funcs, so replace them
for further code clean up.

I don't know much of xen code. But, since the code is in x86 architecture,
the percpu_xxx is exactly same as this_cpu_xxx serials functions. So, the
change is safe.

7a7546b377 x86: xen: size struct xen_spinlock to always fit in arch_spinlock_t
If NR_CPUS < 256 then arch_spinlock_t is only 16 bits wide but struct
xen_spinlock is 32 bits.  When a spin lock is contended and
xl->spinners is modified the two bytes immediately after the spin lock
would be corrupted.

This is a regression caused by 84eb950db1
(x86, ticketlock: Clean up types and accessors) which reduced the size
of arch_spinlock_t.

Fix this by making xl->spinners a u8 if NR_CPUS < 256.  A
BUILD_BUG_ON() is also added to check the sizes of the two structures
are compatible.

In many cases this was not noticable as there would often be padding
bytes after the lock (e.g., if any of CONFIG_GENERIC_LOCKBREAK,
CONFIG_DEBUG_SPINLOCK, or CONFIG_DEBUG_LOCK_ALLOC were enabled).

The bnx2 driver is affected. In struct bnx2, phy_lock and
indirect_lock may have no padding after them.  Contention on phy_lock
would corrupt indirect_lock making it appear locked and the driver
would deadlock.

d312ae878b "xen: use maximum reservation to limit amount of usable RAM"
clamped the total amount of RAM to the current maximum reservation. This is
correct for dom0 but is not correct for guest domains. In order to boot a guest
"pre-ballooned" (e.g. with memory=1G but maxmem=2G) in order to allow for
future memory expansion the guest must derive max_pfn from the e820 provided by
the toolstack and not the current maximum reservation (which can reflect only
the current maximum, not the guest lifetime max). The existing algorithm
already behaves this correctly if we do not artificially limit the maximum
number of pages for the guest case.

For a guest booted with maxmem=512, memory=128 this results in:

fe091c208a memblock: Kill memblock_init()
memblock_init() initializes arrays for regions and memblock itself;
however, all these can be done with struct initializers and
memblock_init() can be removed.  This patch kills memblock_init() and
initializes memblock with struct initializer.

The only difference is that the first dummy entries don't have .nid
set to MAX_NUMNODES initially.  This doesn't cause any behavior
difference.

e5fd47bfab xen/pm_idle: Make pm_idle be default_idle under Xen.
The idea behind commit d91ee5863b ("cpuidle: replace xen access to x86
pm_idle and default_idle") was to have one call - disable_cpuidle()
which would make pm_idle not be molested by other code.  It disallows
cpuidle_idle_call to be set to pm_idle (which is excellent).

But in the select_idle_routine() and idle_setup(), the pm_idle can still
be set to either: amd_e400_idle, mwait_idle or default_idle.  This
depends on some CPU flags (MWAIT) and in AMD case on the type of CPU.

In case of mwait_idle we can hit some instances where the hypervisor
(Amazon EC2 specifically) sets the MWAIT and we get:

In the case of amd_e400_idle we don't get so spectacular crashes, but we
do end up making an MSR which is trapped in the hypervisor, and then
follow it up with a yield hypercall.  Meaning we end up going to
hypervisor twice instead of just once.

The previous behavior before v3.0 was that pm_idle was set to
default_idle regardless of select_idle_routine/idle_setup.

We want to do that, but only for one specific case: Xen.  This patch
does that.

85ff6acb07 xen/granttable: Grant tables V2 implementation
Receiver-side copying of packets is based on this implementation, it gives
better performance and better CPU accounting. It totally supports three types:
full-page, sub-page and transitive grants.

However this patch does not cover sub-page and transitive grants, it mainly
focus on Full-page part and implements grant table V2 interfaces corresponding
to what already exists in grant table V1, such as: grant table V2
initialization, mapping, releasing and exported interfaces.

Each guest can only supports one type of grant table type, every entry in grant
table should be the same version. It is necessary to set V1 or V2 version before
initializing the grant table.

Grant table exported interfaces of V2 are same with those of V1, Xen is
responsible to judge what grant table version guests are using in every grant
operation.

V2 fulfills the same role of V1, and it is totally backwards compitable with V1.
If dom0 support grant table V2, the guests runing on it can run with either V1
or V2.

0f9f5a9588 xen/granttable: Introducing grant table V2 stucture
This patch introduces new structures of grant table V2, grant table V2 is an
extension from V1. Grant table is shared between guest and Xen, and Xen is
responsible to do corresponding work for grant operations, such as: figure
out guest's grant table version, perform different actions based on
different grant table version, etc. Although full-page structure of V2
is different from V1, it play the same role as V1.

cd12909cb5 xen: map foreign pages for shared rings by updating the PTEs directly
When mapping a foreign page with xenbus_map_ring_valloc() with the
GNTTABOP_map_grant_ref hypercall, set the GNTMAP_contains_pte flag and
pass a pointer to the PTE (in init_mm).

After the page is mapped, the usual fault mechanism can be used to
update additional MMs.  This allows the vmalloc_sync_all() to be
removed from alloc_vm_area().

f3f436e33b xen: release all pages within 1-1 p2m mappings
In xen_memory_setup() all reserved regions and gaps are set to an
identity (1-1) p2m mapping.  If an available page has a PFN within one
of these 1-1 mappings it will become inaccessible (as it MFN is lost)
so release them before setting up the mapping.

This can make an additional 256 MiB or more of RAM available
(depending on the size of the reserved regions in the memory map) if
the initial pages overlap with reserved regions.

The 1:1 p2m mappings are also extended to cover partial pages.  This
fixes an issue with (for example) systems with a BIOS that puts the
DMI tables in a reserved region that begins on a non-page boundary.

dc91c728fd xen: allow extra memory to be in multiple regions
Allow the extra memory (used by the balloon driver) to be in multiple
regions (typically two regions, one for low memory and one for high
memory).  This allows the balloon driver to increase the number of
available low pages (if the initial number if pages is small).

As a side effect, the algorithm for building the e820 memory map is
simpler and more obviously correct as the map supplied by the
hypervisor is (almost) used as is (in particular, all reserved regions
and gaps are preserved).  Only RAM regions are altered and RAM regions
above max_pfn + extra_pages are marked as unused (the region is split
in two if necessary).

Allow the xen balloon driver to populate its list of extra pages from
more than one region of memory.  This will allow platforms to provide
(for example) a region of low memory and a region of high memory.

The maximum possible number of extra regions is 128 (== E820MAX) which
is quite large so xen_extra_mem is placed in __initdata.  This is safe
as both xen_memory_setup() and balloon_init() are in __init.

The balloon regions themselves are not altered (i.e., there is still
only the one region).

aa24411b67 xen/balloon: account for pages released during memory setup
In xen_memory_setup() pages that occur in gaps in the memory map are
released back to Xen.  This reduces the domain's current page count in
the hypervisor.  The Xen balloon driver does not correctly decrease
its initial current_pages count to reflect this.  If 'delta' pages are
released and the target is adjusted the resulting reservation is
always 'delta' less than the requested target.

This affects dom0 if the initial allocation of pages overlaps the PCI
memory region but won't affect most domU guests that have been setup
with pseudo-physical memory maps that don't have gaps.

Fix this by accouting for the released pages when starting the balloon
driver.

If the domain's targets are managed by xapi, the domain may eventually
run out of memory and die because xapi currently gets its target
calculations wrong and whenever it is restarted it always reduces the
target by 'delta'.

0930bba674 xen: modify kernel mappings corresponding to granted pages
If we want to use granted pages for AIO, changing the mappings of a user
vma and the corresponding p2m is not enough, we also need to update the
kernel mappings accordingly.
Currently this is only needed for pages that are created for user usages
through /dev/xen/gntdev. As in, pages that have been in use by the
kernel and use the P2M will not need this special mapping.
However there are no guarantees that in the future the kernel won't
start accessing pages through the 1:1 even for internal usage.

In order to avoid the complexity of dealing with highmem, we allocated
the pages lowmem.
We issue a HYPERVISOR_grant_table_op right away in
m2p_add_override and we remove the mappings using another
HYPERVISOR_grant_table_op in m2p_remove_override.
Considering that m2p_add_override and m2p_remove_override are called
once per page we use multicalls and hypercall batching.

Use the kmap_op pointer directly as argument to do the mapping as it is
guaranteed to be present up until the unmapping is done.
Before issuing any unmapping multicalls, we need to make sure that the
mapping has already being done, because we need the kmap->handle to be
set correctly.

The patch "xen: use maximum reservation to limit amount of usable RAM"
(d312ae878b) breaks machines that
do not use 'dom0_mem=' argument with:

reserve RAM buffer: 000000133f2e2000 - 000000133fffffff
(XEN) mm.c:4976:d0 Global bit is set to kernel page fffff8117e
(XEN) domain_crash_sync called from entry.S
(XEN) Domain 0 (vcpu#0) crashed on cpu#0:
...

The reason being that the last E820 entry is created using the
'extra_pages' (which is based on how many pages have been freed).
The mentioned git commit sets the initial value of 'extra_pages'
using a hypercall which returns the number of pages (if dom0_mem
has been used) or -1 otherwise. If the later we return with
MAX_DOMAIN_PAGES as basis for calculation:

    return min(max_pages, MAX_DOMAIN_PAGES);

and use it:

     extra_limit = xen_get_max_pages();
     if (extra_limit >= max_pfn)
             extra_pages = extra_limit - max_pfn;
     else
             extra_pages = 0;

which means we end up with extra_pages = 128GB in PFNs (33554432)
- 8GB in PFNs (2097152, on this specific box, can be larger or smaller),
and then we add that value to the E820 making it:

  Xen: 00000000ff000000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved)
  Xen: 0000000100000000 - 000000133f2e2000 (usable)

which is clearly wrong. It should look as so:

  Xen: 00000000ff000000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved)
  Xen: 0000000100000000 - 000000027fbda000 (usable)

Naturally this problem does not present itself if dom0_mem=max:X
is used.

f10cd522c5 xen: disable PV spinlocks on HVM
PV spinlocks cannot possibly work with the current code because they are
enabled after pvops patching has already been done, and because PV
spinlocks use a different data structure than native spinlocks so we
cannot switch between them dynamically. A spinlock that has been taken
once by the native code (__ticket_spin_lock) cannot be taken by
__xen_spin_lock even after it has been released.

ed467e69f1 xen/smp: Warn user why they keel over - nosmp or noapic and what to use instead.
We have hit a couple of customer bugs where they would like to
use those parameters to run an UP kernel - but both of those
options turn of important sources of interrupt information so
we end up not being able to boot. The correct way is to
pass in 'dom0_max_vcpus=1' on the Xen hypervisor line and
the kernel will patch itself to be a UP kernel.

will enable interrupts even if they has been previously disabled according to

	setz XEN_vcpu_info_mask(%eax)

Solution is in setting XEN_vcpu_info_mask only when it should be set
according to
	cmpw $0x0001, XEN_vcpu_info_pending(%eax)
but not clearing it if there isn't any pending events.

Use the domain's maximum reservation to limit the amount of extra RAM
for the memory balloon. This reduces the size of the pages tables and
the amount of reserved low memory (which defaults to about 1/32 of the
total RAM).

On a system with 8 GiB of RAM with the domain limited to 1 GiB the
kernel reports:

Before:

Memory: 627792k/4472000k available

After:

Memory: 549740k/11132224k available

A increase of about 76 MiB (~1.5% of the unused 7 GiB).  The reserved
low memory is also reduced from 253 MiB to 32 MiB.  The total
additional usable RAM is 329 MiB.

For dom0, this requires at patch to Xen ('x86: use 'dom0_mem' to limit
the number of pages for dom0') (c/s 23790)

f1c39625d6 xen: use non-tracing preempt in xen_clocksource_read()
The tracing code used sched_clock() to get tracing timestamps, which
ends up calling xen_clocksource_read().  xen_clocksource_read() must
disable preemption, but if preemption tracing is enabled, this results
in infinite recursion.

I've only noticed this when boot-time tracing tests are enabled, but it
seems like a generic bug.  It looks like it would also affect
kvm_clocksource_read().

ccbcdf7cf1 xen/x86: replace order-based range checking of M2P table by linear one
The order-based approach is not only less efficient (requiring a shift
and a compare, typical generated code looking like this

	mov	eax, [machine_to_phys_order]
	mov	ecx, eax
	shr	ebx, cl
	test	ebx, ebx
	jnz	...

whereas a direct check requires just a compare, like in

	cmp	ebx, [machine_to_phys_nr]
	jae	...

), but also slightly dangerous in the 32-on-64 case - the element
address calculation can wrap if the next power of two boundary is
sufficiently far away from the actual upper limit of the table, and
hence can result in user space addresses being accessed (with it being
unknown what may actually be mapped there).

Additionally, the elimination of the mistaken use of fls() here (should
have been __fls()) fixes a latent issue on x86-64 that would trigger
if the code was run on a system with memory extending beyond the 44-bit
boundary.

318f5a2a67 x86-64: Add user_64bit_mode paravirt op
Three places in the kernel assume that the only long mode CPL 3
selector is __USER_CS.  This is not true on Xen -- Xen's sysretq
changes cs to the magic value 0xe033.

Two of the places are corner cases, but as of "x86-64: Improve
vsyscall emulation CS and RIP handling"
(c9712944b2), vsyscalls will segfault
if called with Xen's extra CS selector.  This causes a panic when
older init builds die.

It seems impossible to make Xen use __USER_CS reliably without
taking a performance hit on every system call, so this fixes the
tests instead with a new paravirt op.  It's a little ugly because
ptrace.h can't include paravirt.h.

d91ee5863b cpuidle: replace xen access to x86 pm_idle and default_idle
When a Xen Dom0 kernel boots on a hypervisor, it gets access
to the raw-hardware ACPI tables.  While it parses the idle tables
for the hypervisor's beneift, it uses HLT for its own idle.

Rather than have xen scribble on pm_idle and access default_idle,
have it simply disable_cpuidle() so acpi_idle will not load and
architecture default HLT will be used.

24aa07882b memblock, x86: Replace memblock_x86_reserve/free_range() with generic ones
Other than sanity check and debug message, the x86 specific version of
memblock reserve/free functions are simple wrappers around the generic
versions - memblock_reserve/free().

This patch adds debug messages with caller identification to the
generic versions and replaces x86 specific ones and kills them.
arch/x86/include/asm/memblock.h and arch/x86/mm/memblock.c are empty
after this change and removed.

acd049c6e9 xen/setup: Fix for incorrect xen_extra_mem_start.
The earlier attempts (24bdb0b62c)
at fixing this problem caused other problems to surface (PV guests
with no PCI passthrough would have SWIOTLB turned on - which meant
64MB of precious contingous DMA32 memory being eaten up per guest).
The problem was: "on xen we add an extra memory region at the end of
the e820, and on this particular machine this extra memory region
would start below 4g and cross over the 4g boundary:

Unfortunately e820_end_of_low_ram_pfn does not expect an
e820 layout like that so it returns 4g, therefore initial_memory_mapping
will map [0 - 0x100000000), that is a memory range that includes some
reserved memory regions."

The memory range was the IOAPIC regions, and with the 1-1 mapping
turned on, it would map them as RAM, not as MMIO regions. This caused
the hypervisor to complain. Fortunately this is experienced only under
the initial domain so we guard for it.

900cba8881 xen: support CONFIG_MAXSMP
The MAXSMP config option requires CPUMASK_OFFSTACK, which in turn
requires we init the memory for the maps while we bring up the cpus.
MAXSMP also increases NR_CPUS to 4096. This increase in size exposed an
issue in the argument construction for multicalls from
xen_flush_tlb_others. The args should only need space for the actual
number of cpus.

Also in 2.6.39 it exposes a bootup problem.

a91d92875e xen: partially revert "xen: set max_pfn_mapped to the last pfn mapped"
We only need to set max_pfn_mapped to the last pfn mapped on x86_64 to
make sure that cleanup_highmap doesn't remove important mappings at
_end.

We don't need to do this on x86_32 because cleanup_highmap is not called
on x86_32. Besides lowering max_pfn_mapped on x86_32 has the unwanted
side effect of limiting the amount of memory available for the 1:1
kernel pagetable allocation.

This patch reverts the x86_32 part of the original patch.

Get the information about the VGA console hardware from Xen, and put
it into the form the bootloader normally generates, so that the rest
of the kernel can deal with VGA as usual.

xen_set_pte_at and xen_clear_pte are essentially identical to
xen_set_pte, so just make them all common.

When batched set_pte and pte_clear are the same, but the unbatch operation
must be different: they need to update the two halves of the pte in
different order.

a99ac5e861 xen: use mmu_update for xen_set_pte_at()
In principle update_va_mapping is a good match for set_pte_at, since
it gets the address being mapped, which allows Xen to use its linear
pagetable mapping.

However that assumes that the pmd for the address is attached to the
current pagetable, which may not be true for a given user address space
because the kernel pmd is not shared (at least on 32-bit guests).
Normally the kernel will automatically sync a missing part of the
pagetable with the init_mm pagetable transparently via faults, but that
fails when a missing address is passed to Xen.

And while the linear pagetable mapping is very useful for 32-bit Xen
(as it avoids an explicit domain mapping), 32-bit Xen is deprecated.
64-bit Xen has all memory mapped all the time, so it makes no real
difference.

The upshot is that we should use mmu_update, since it can operate on
non-current pagetables or detached pagetables.
