Hello,
I'm just a player of Median XL, and aahz the server admin from the MXL community told me, I'd best write down my suggestions here.
First of all, I want to say thank you for updating and improving this software constantly and for all the hard work you put into this.
Luckily, MXL has quite a great community, with more than 1000 players on servers, established with your software. Everything works well. However, the clan feature could use some work, since right now, (version pvpgn.pro 1.99) it's very clunky and bad to use, to the point that you wonder why there was even a feature such as clans build in. I have already a full friendlist on the server, so when someone on the forum said he wants to establish a German community on the server, I said: "Hey, just use the /clan feature" since I never tried it out before.
Well, we got on the server and tried it out and quickly we noticed lots of things that don't really fit well.
When you use /clan m or /clan w for messaging, you can't re-read what you wrote. It just says "message was send to all available clan members." This is kinda disappointing as it makes /f m much better to use, so you can follow a conversation and possibly correct yourself.
The clan message of the day isn't shown anywhere. Neither in the phase before you join a channel, nor in the channel itself, nor in the game.
Despite the fact that you have to choose a clan tag and a clan name, it isn't shown anywhere. Neither in the game, nor in the channel, nor when you right-click on someone inside a channel.
There is no /clan list to see who's in the clan. I don't know how you guys feel about it, but to me it seems rather bad that you can't see who's in your clan. Not even the clan leader can tell.
Why isn't there a specific channel for the clan if there are commands to close or open the clan channel to the public?
Why aren't the /clan commands abbreviatable (is this even a word?)? like /c m for /clan m(essage) for example. it works with /f m for /friends message.
There should be rank-system with 3 ranks instead of 2: leader, right hand, normal members. So the leader can give up to X people the right to close or open the clan channel as they like.
There's no difference in color between messages from friends, whispers or messages from a clan member. You could at least add a different color for clan members (Like make it yellow or something), since you can tell whether you've been sent a message from a random guy or from a friend by the account name.
With all those features lacking, the system is... well... it's very uncomfortable to use. You'd make us really happy if you changed those things accordingly! Thanks for taking the time to read this and for your hard work again.
If anyone's interested: This is the topic in the MXL forum with Aahz's reply. https://forum.median-xl.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19179&p=169104#p169104
Thanks for writing down everything. Some of these suggestions will be easy to do and I'll try to make some changes within a week.
By the way, your forum is unviewable to guests.
Thanks a ton! That would really help us! :D
hm... I guess, this section of the forum is private. If you like, I can copy the posts in this topic.
