What we read back from the register is going to be capped at 32-bits,
and cpufreq_freq_table.frequency is an unsigned int. Avoid any possible
value truncation by using the appropriate return value.

There is a logical error in brcm_avs_is_firmware_loaded() whereby if the
firmware returns -EINVAL, we will be reporting this as an error. The
comment is correct, the code was not.

On i.MX6UL/i.MX6ULL, accessing OCOTP directly is wrong because
the ocotp clock needs to be enabled first. Add support for reading
OCOTP through the nvmem API, and keep the old method there to
support old dtb.

The cpufreq core heavily depends on the availability of the struct
device for CPUs and if they aren't available at the time cpufreq driver
is registered, we will never succeed in making cpufreq work.
This happens due to following sequence of events:
- cpufreq_register_driver()
- subsys_interface_register()
- return 0; //successful registration of driver
... at a later point of time
- register_cpu();
- device_register();
- bus_probe_device();
- sif->add_dev();
- cpufreq_add_dev();
- get_cpu_device(); //FAILS
- per_cpu(cpu_sys_devices, num) = &cpu->dev; //used by get_cpu_device()
- return 0; //CPU registered successfully
Because the per-cpu variable cpu_sys_devices is set only after the CPU
device is regsitered, cpufreq will never be able to get it when
cpufreq_add_dev() is called.
This patch avoids this failure by making sure device structure of at
least CPU0 is available when the cpufreq driver is registered, else
return -EPROBE_DEFER.

The following build warning occurred on powerpc 64-bit builds:

This is with a cross-compiler based on gcc 8.1.0, which I got from:
https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/tools/crosstool/files/bin/x86_64/8.1.0/
The warning is due to putting 1024 bytes on the stack:
unsigned int chip[256];
...and it's also undesirable to have a hard limit on the number of
CPUs here.
Fix both problems by dynamically allocating based on num_possible_cpus,
as recommended by Michael Ellerman.

Add NULL checks to show() and store() in cpufreq.c to avoid attempts
to invoke a NULL callback.
Though some interfaces of cpufreq are set as read-only, users can
still get write permission using chmod which can lead to a kernel
crash, as follows:
chmod +w /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
This bug was found in linux 4.19.

It is incorrect to set the cpufreq syscore shutdown callback pointer
to cpufreq_suspend(), because that function cannot be run in the
syscore stage of system shutdown for two reasons: (a) it may attempt
to carry out actions depending on devices that have already been shut
down at that point and (b) the RCU synchronization carried out by it
may not be able to make progress then.
The latter issue has been present since commit 45975c7d21a1 ("rcu:
Define RCU-sched API in terms of RCU for Tree RCU PREEMPT builds"),
but the former one has been there since commit 90de2a4aa9 ("cpufreq:
suspend cpufreq governors on shutdown") regardless.
Fix that by dropping cpufreq_syscore_ops altogether and making
device_shutdown() call cpufreq_suspend() directly before shutting
down devices, which is along the lines of what system-wide power
management does.

/proc/uid_time_in_state has no data on cuttlefish because its cpu
frequency tables are empty. Because time in state & concurrent time
accounting are intertwined this causes the
/proc/uid_concurrent_{policy,active}_time files to also not contain
any data.
Add a minimal, fake cpufreq driver that creates a freq table with 2
frequencies per policy, to allow testing time in state functionality.
Test: all 3 proc files show reasonable data on cuttlefish

Writing large values to remove_uid_range can cause an overflow &
system hang. To prevent this, read in the start and end of the range
using kstrtouint to ensure the full range can fit in a uid_t, and use
a u64 for our loop counters to avoid overflow when the range ends at
UINT_MAX.
Test: "echo '9223372036854775807-9223372036854775807' > \
/proc/uid_cputime/remove_uid_range" now returns error instead of hanging

Currently the error return path from kobject_init_and_add() is not
followed by a call to kobject_put() - which means we are leaking
the kobject.
Fix it by adding a call to kobject_put() in the error path of
kobject_init_and_add().

The frequency calculation was based on the current(max) frequency of the
CPU. However for low frequency, the value used was already the parent
frequency divided by a factor of 2.
Instead of using this frequency, this fix directly get the frequency from
the parent clock.

There is some rare cases where CPB (and possibly IDA) are missing on
processors.
This is the case fixed by commit f7f3dc00f6 ("x86/cpu/AMD: Fix
erratum 1076 (CPB bit)") and following.
In such context, the boost status isn't reported by
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost.
This commit is about printing a message to report that the CPU
doesn't expose the boost capabilities.
This message could help debugging platforms hit by this phenomena.

Invalid frequency checks are a bottleneck in reading
/proc/uid_time_in_state, but there's no reason to include invalid
frequencies in our local copies of frequency tables. Revise
cpufreq_times_create_policy() to only copy valid frequencies, and
eliminate all the checks this change makes unnecessary.

pxa_cpufreq_init_voltages() is marked __init but usually inlined into
the non-__init pxa_cpufreq_init() function. When building with clang,
it can stay as a standalone function in a discarded section, and produce
this warning:

The function pxa_cpufreq_init() references

Commit 5ad7346b4a ("cpufreq: kryo: Add module remove and exit") made
it possible to build the kryo cpufreq driver as a module, but it failed
to release all the resources, i.e. OPP tables, when the module is
unloaded.
This patch fixes it by releasing the OPP tables, by calling
dev_pm_opp_put_supported_hw() for them, from the
qcom_cpufreq_kryo_remove() routine. The array of pointers to the OPP
tables is also allocated dynamically now in qcom_cpufreq_kryo_probe(),
as the pointers will be required while releasing the resources.
Compile tested only.

The cpufreq_global_kobject is created using kobject_create_and_add()
helper, which assigns the kobj_type as dynamic_kobj_ktype and show/store
routines are set to kobj_attr_show() and kobj_attr_store().
These routines pass struct kobj_attribute as an argument to the
show/store callbacks. But all the cpufreq files created using the
cpufreq_global_kobject expect the argument to be of type struct
attribute. Things work fine currently as no one accesses the "attr"
argument. We may not see issues even if the argument is used, as struct
kobj_attribute has struct attribute as its first element and so they
will both get same address.
But this is logically incorrect and we should rather use struct
kobj_attribute instead of struct global_attr in the cpufreq core and
drivers and the show/store callbacks should take struct kobj_attribute
as argument instead.
This bug is caught using CFI CLANG builds in android kernel which
catches mismatch in function prototypes for such callbacks.

The majority of the time spent reading /proc/uid_time_in_state is due
to seq_printf calls. Use the faster seq_put_* variations instead.
Also skip empty hash buckets in uid_seq_next for a further performance
improvement.

cpufreq_times_record_transition() is not called when fast switch is
enabled, leading /proc/uid_time_in_state to attribute all time on a
cluster to a single frequency. To fix this, add a call to
cpufreq_times_record_transition() in the fast switch path.
Also revise cpufreq_times_record_transition() to simplify the new call
and more closely align with cpufreq_stats_record_transition().

In order to model the energy used by the cpu, we need to expose cpu
time information to userspace. We can use this information to blame
uids for the energy they are using.
This patch adds 2 files:
/proc/uid_concurrent_active_time outputs the time each uid spent
running with 1 to num_possible_cpus online and not idle.
For instance, if 4 cores are online and active for 50ms and the uid is
running on one of the cores, the uid should be blamed for 1/4 of the
base energy used by the cpu when 1 or more cores is active.
/proc/uid_concurrent_policy_time outputs the time each uid spent
running on group of cpu's with the same policy with 1 to
num_related_cpus online and not idle.
For instance, if 2 cores that are a part of the same policy are online
and active for 50ms and the uid is running on one of the cores, the
uid should be blamed for 1/2 of the energy that is used everytime one
or more cpus in the same policy is active.
This patch is based on commit c89e69136fec ("ANDROID: cpufreq:
uid_concurrent_active_time") and commit 989212536842 ("ANDROID:
cpufreq: uid_concurrent_policy_time") in the android-msm-wahoo-4.4

cpuinfo_cur_freq gets current CPU frequency as detected by hardware
while scaling_cur_freq last known CPU frequency. Some platforms may not
allow checking the CPU frequency of an offline CPU or the associated
resources may have been released via cpufreq_exit when the CPU gets
offlined, in which case the policy would have been invalidated already.
If we attempt to get current frequency from the hardware, it may result
in hang or crash.

The scmi-cpufreq driver calls the arch_set_freq_scale() callback on
frequency changes to provide scale-invariant load-tracking signals to
the scheduler. However, in the slow path, it does so while specifying
the current and max frequencies in different units, hence resulting in a
broken freq_scale factor.
Fix this by passing all frequencies in KHz, as stored in the CPUFreq
frequency table.

The core EAS patches have now been accepted upstream. The patches used
in Android are based on a slightly earlier version of the series. In
order to reduce the delta with mainline and ease backports, align the
EAS code paths with their upstream version.
This basically applies the output of git range-diff on the appropriate
commits, and fixes a conflict in schedutil regarding the integration of
schedtune.

Currently the ti-cpufreq driver blindly registers a 'ti-cpufreq' to force
the driver to probe on any platforms where the driver is built in.
However, this should only happen on platforms that actually can make use
of the driver. There is already functionality in place to match the
SoC compatible so let's factor this out into a separate call and
make sure we find a match before creating the ti-cpufreq platform device.
