88de3d0d71 arm-soc: bug fixes for v3.6-rc2
These are a bunch of bug fixes that came in after the merge window and
one update for the MAINTAINERS file. The largest part of the fixes
are patches that address bugs found by building all the ARM defconfig
files. There are a lot more warnings that we have patches for, but
the others are either still under discussion or are harmless and
do not cause actual problems besides making the build slightly noisy.

0e16aafb12 powerpc/crypto: add 842 hardware compression driver
This patch adds the driver for interacting with the 842
compression accelerator on IBM Power7+ systems.

The device is a child of the Platform Facilities Option (PFO)
and shows up as a child of the IBM VIO bus.

The compression/decompression API takes the same arguments
as existing compression methods like lzo and deflate. The 842
hardware operates on 4K hardware pages and the driver breaks up
input on 4K boundaries to submit it to the hardware accelerator.

Merge tag 'vfio-for-v3.6' of git://github.com/awilliam/linux-vfio

Pull VFIO core from Alex Williamson:
"This series includes the VFIO userspace driver interface for the 3.6
kernel merge window. This driver is intended to provide a secure
interface for device access using IOMMU protection for applications
like assignment of physical devices to virtual machines.

Qemu will be the first user of this interface, enabling assignment of
PCI devices to Qemu guests. This interface is intended to eventually
replace the x86-specific assignment mechanism currently available in
  KVM.

This interface has the advantage of being more secure, by working with
IOMMU groups to ensure device isolation and providing it's own
filtered resource access mechanism, and also more flexible, in not
being x86 or KVM specific (extensions to enable POWER are already
  working).

This driver is originally the work of Tom Lyon, but has since been
handed over to me and gone through a complete overhaul thanks to the
input from David Gibson, Ben Herrenschmidt, Chris Wright, Joerg
Roedel, and others. This driver has been available in linux-next for
  the last month."

Paul Mackerras says:
"I would be glad to see it go in since we want to use it with KVM on
PowerPC. If possible we'd like the PowerPC bits for it to go in as
  well."

cba3345cc4 vfio: VFIO core
VFIO is a secure user level driver for use with both virtual machines
and user level drivers. VFIO makes use of IOMMU groups to ensure the
isolation of devices in use, allowing unprivileged user access. It's
intended that VFIO will replace KVM device assignment and UIO drivers
(in cases where the target platform includes a sufficiently capable
IOMMU).

New in this version of VFIO is support for IOMMU groups managed
through the IOMMU core as well as a rework of the API, removing the
group merge interface. We now go back to a model more similar to
original VFIO with UIOMMU support where the file descriptor obtained
from /dev/vfio/vfio allows access to the IOMMU, but only after a
group is added, avoiding the previous privilege issues with this type
of model. IOMMU support is also now fully modular as IOMMUs have
vastly different interface requirements on different platforms. VFIO
users are able to query and initialize the IOMMU model of their
choice.

Please see the follow-on Documentation commit for further description
and usage example.

Merge tag 'mfd-3.6-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sameo/mfd-2.6

Pull MFD bits from Samuel Ortiz:
"We have support for a few new drivers:
   - Samsung s2mps11
   - Wolfson Microelectronics wm5102 and wm5110
   - Marvell 88PM800 and 88PM805
   - TI twl6041

We also have our regular driver improvements:
   - Device tree and IRQ domain support for STE AB8500
   - Regmap and devm_* API conversion for TI tps6586x
   - Device tree support for Samsung max77686
   - devm_* API conversion for STE AB3100

Besides that, quite a lot of fixing and cleanup for mc13xxx, tps65910,
  tps65090, da9052 and twl-core."

Fix up mostly trivial conflicts, with the exception of
drivers/usb/host/ehci-omap.c in particular, which had some
re-organization of the reset sequence (commit 1a49e2ac96: "EHCI:
centralize controller initialization") that clashed with commit
2761a63945 ("mfd: USB: Fix the omap-usb EHCI ULPI PHY reset fix
issues").

In particular, commit 2761a63945 moved the usb_add_hcd() to the
*middle* of the reset sequence, which clashes fairly badly with the
reset sequence re-organization (although it could have been done inside
the new omap_ehci_init() function).

I left that part of commit 2761a63945 just undone.

Pull PWM subsystem from Thierry Reding:
"The new PWM subsystem aims at collecting all implementations of the
legacy PWM API and to eventually replace it completely.

The subsystem has been in development for over half a year now and
many drivers have already been converted. It has been in linux-next
for a couple of weeks and there have been no major issues so I think
it is ready for inclusion in your tree."

Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>:
"Very much Ack on the new subsystem. It uses the interface
declarations as the previously separate pwm drivers, so nothing
changes for now in the drivers using it, although it enables us to
change those more easily in the future if we want to.

This work is also one of the missing pieces that are required to
eventually build ARM kernels for multiple platforms, which is
currently prohibited (amongs other things) by the fact that you cannot
have more than one driver exporting the pwm functions."

uhid is for the other (transport) part of the pipeline).

It's needed for (and currently being used by) Bluetooth-LowEnergy,

3c4cfadef6 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking changes from David S Miller:

 1) Remove the ipv4 routing cache. Now lookups go directly into the FIB
trie and use prebuilt routes cached there.

No more garbage collection, no more rDOS attacks on the routing
cache. Instead we now get predictable and consistent performance,
no matter what the pattern of traffic we service.

This has been almost 2 years in the making. Special thanks to
Julian Anastasov, Eric Dumazet, Steffen Klassert, and others who
    have helped along the way.

I'm sure that with a change of this magnitude there will be some
kind of fallout, but such things ought the be simple to fix at this
point. Luckily I'm not European so I'll be around all of August to
    fix things :-)

The major stages of this work here are each fronted by a forced
merge commit whose commit message contains a top-level description
of the motivations and implementation issues.

 2) Pre-demux of established ipv4 TCP sockets, saves a route demux on
    input.

 3) TCP SYN/ACK performance tweaks from Eric Dumazet.

 4) Add namespace support for netfilter L4 conntrack helpers, from Gao
    Feng.

 5) Add config mechanism for Energy Efficient Ethernet to ethtool, from
    Yuval Mintz.

 6) Remove quadratic behavior from /proc/net/unix, from Eric Dumazet.

 7) Support for connection tracker helpers in userspace, from Pablo
    Neira Ayuso.

 8) Allow userspace driven TX load balancing functions in TEAM driver,
    from Jiri Pirko.

 9) Kill off NLMSG_PUT and RTA_PUT macros, more gross stuff with
    embedded gotos.

10) TCP Small Queues, essentially minimize the amount of TCP data queued
up in the packet scheduler layer. Whereas the existing BQL (Byte
Queue Limits) limits the pkt_sched --> netdevice queuing levels,
this controls the TCP --> pkt_sched queueing levels.

    From Eric Dumazet.

11) Reduce the number of get_page/put_page ops done on SKB fragments,
    from Alexander Duyck.

12) Implement protection against blind resets in TCP (RFC 5961), from
    Eric Dumazet.

13) Support the client side of TCP Fast Open, basically the ability to
send data in the SYN exchange, from Yuchung Cheng.

Basically, the sender queues up data with a sendmsg() call using
MSG_FASTOPEN, then they do the connect() which emits the queued up
    fastopen data.

14) Avoid all the problems we get into in TCP when timers or PMTU events
hit a locked socket. The TCP Small Queues changes added a
tcp_release_cb() that allows us to queue work up to the
release_sock() caller, and that's what we use here too. From Eric
    Dumazet.

15) Zero copy on TX support for TUN driver, from Michael S. Tsirkin.

f01b9b73f5 arm-soc: new SoC support
This adds support for three new SoC types:
 * The mvebu platform includes Marvell's Armada XP and Armada 370 chips,
made by the mvebu business unit inside of Marvell. Since the same
group also made the older but similar platforms we call "orion5x",
"kirkwood", "mv78xx0" and "dove", we plan to move all of them into
the mach-mvebu directory in the future.
 * socfpga is Altera's platform based on Cortex-A9 cores and a lot of
FPGA space. This is similar to the Xilinx zynq platform we already
support. The code is particularly clean, which is helped by the fact
that the hardware doesn't do much besides the parts that are
expected to get added in the FPGA.
 * The OMAP subarchitecture gains support for the latest generation,
the OMAP5 based on the new Cortex-A15 core. Support is rather
rudimentary for now, but will be extended in the future.

a018540141 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Pull networking fixes from David Miller:

 1) IPVS oops'ers:
   a) Should not reset skb->nf_bridge in forwarding hook (Lin Ming)
   b) 3.4 commit can cause ip_vs_control_cleanup to be invoked after
the ipvs_core_ops are unregistered during rmmod (Julian ANastasov)

 2) ixgbevf bringup failure can crash in TX descriptor cleanup
    (Alexander Duyck)

 3) AX25 switch missing break statement hoses ROSE sockets (Alan Cox)

 4) CAIF accesses freed per-net memory (Sjur Brandeland)

 5) Network cgroup code has out-or-bounds accesses (Eric DUmazet), and
    accesses freed memory (Gao Feng)

 6) Fix a crash in SCTP reported by Dave Jones caused by freeing an
association still on a list (Neil HOrman)

 7) __netdev_alloc_skb() regresses on GFP_DMA using drivers because that
GFP flag is not being retained for the allocation (Eric Dumazet).

 8) Missing NULL hceck in sch_sfb netlink message parsing (Alan Cox)

 9) bnx2 crashes because TX index iteration is not bounded correctly
    (Michael Chan)

10) IPoIB generates warnings in TCP queue collapsing (via
skb_try_coalesce) because it does not set skb->truesize correctly
    (Eric Dumazet)

11) vlan_info objects leak for the implicit vlan with ID 0 (Amir
    Hanania)

12) A fix for TX time stamp handling in gianfar does not transfer socket
ownership from one packet to another correctly, resulting in a
socket write space imbalance (Eric Dumazet)

13) Julia Lawall found several cases where we do a list iteration, and
then at the loop termination unconditionally assume we ended up with
real list object, rather than the list head itself (CNIC, RXRPC,
    mISDN).

14) The bonding driver handles procfs moving incorrectly when a device
it manages is moved from one namespace to another (Eric Biederman)

15) Missing memory barriers in stmmac descriptor accesses result in
    various crashes (Deepak Sikri)

16) Fix handling of broadcast packets in batman-adv (Simon Wunderlich)

17) Properly check the sanity of sendmsg() lengths in ieee802154's
dgram_sendmsg(). Dave Jones and others have hit and reported this
    bug (Sasha Levin)

18) Some drivers (b44 and b43legacy) on 64-bit machines stopped working
because of how netdev_alloc_skb() was adjusted. Such drivers should
now use alloc_skb() for obtaining bounce buffers. (Eric Dumazet)

19) atl1c mis-managed it's link state in that it stops the queue by hand
on link down. The generic networking takes care of that and this
double stop locks the queue down. So simply removing the driver's
queue stop call fixes the problem (Cloud Ren)

20) Fix out-of-memory due to mis-accounting in net_em packet scheduler
    (Eric Dumazet)

21) If DCB and SR-IOV are configured at the same time in IXGBE the chip
will hang because this is not supported (Alexander Duyck)

22) A commit to stop drivers using netdev->base_addr broke the CNIC
    driver (Michael Chan)

23) Timeout regression in ipset caused by an attempt to fix an overflow
    bug (Jozsef Kadlecsik).

24) mac80211 minstrel code allocates memory using incorrect size
    (Thomas Huehn)

25) llcp_sock_getname() needs to check for a NULL device otherwise we
    OOPS (Sasha Levin)

26) mwifiex leaks memory (Bing Zhao)

27) Propagate iwlwifi fix to iwlegacy, even when we're not associated
we need to monitor for stuck queues in the watchdog handler
    (Stanislaw Geuszka)

f05259a6ff clk: wm831x: Add initial WM831x clock driver
The WM831x and WM832x series of PMICs contain a flexible clocking
subsystem intended to provide always on and system core clocks. It
features:

- A 32.768kHz crystal oscillator which can optionally be used to pass
  through an externally generated clock.
- A FLL which can be clocked from either the 32.768kHz oscillator or
  the CLKIN pin.
- A CLKOUT pin which can bring out either the oscillator or the FLL
  output.
- The 32.768kHz clock can also optionally be brought out on the GPIO
  pins of the device.

This driver fully supports the 32.768kHz oscillator and CLKOUT. The FLL
is supported only in AUTO mode, the full flexibility of the FLL cannot
currently be used.

Due to a lack of access to systems where the core SoC has been converted
to use the generic clock API this driver has been compile tested only.

The qmi_wwan merge was trivial.

The caif_hsi.c, on the other hand, was not. It's a conflict between

device with ops structure.") in the net-next tree and commit
39abbaef19 ("caif-hsi: Postpone init of

0c2498f166 pwm: Add PWM framework support
This patch adds framework support for PWM (pulse width modulation) devices.

The is a barebone PWM API already in the kernel under include/linux/pwm.h,
but it does not allow for multiple drivers as each of them implements the
pwm_*() functions.

There are other PWM framework patches around from Bill Gatliff. Unlike
his framework this one does not change the existing API for PWMs so that
this framework can act as a drop in replacement for the existing API.

Why another framework?

Several people argue that there should not be another framework for PWMs
but they should be integrated into one of the existing frameworks like led
or hwmon. Unlike these frameworks the PWM framework is agnostic to the
purpose of the PWM. In fact, a PWM can drive a LED, but this makes the
LED framework a user of a PWM, like already done in leds-pwm.c. The gpio
framework also is not suitable for PWMs. Every gpio could be turned into
a PWM using timer based toggling, but on the other hand not every PWM hardware
device can be turned into a gpio due to the lack of hardware capabilities.

This patch does not try to improve the PWM API yet, this could be done in
subsequent patches.

This pull request came in before the merge window even opened, it got
delayed to after the merge window by me just wanting to make sure it had
actual users. Apparently IBM is using this on their embedded side, and
Jan Beulich says that it's already made available for SLES and OpenSUSE
users.

Also acked by Rik van Riel, and Konrad points to other people liking it

ae32adc1e0 Merge branch 'i2c-embedded/for-next' of git://git.pengutronix.de/git/wsa/linux
Pull i2c-embedded changes from Wolfram Sang:
 "Major changes:

   - lots of devicetree additions for existing drivers. I tried hard to
make sure the bindings are proper. In more complicated cases, I
requested acks from people having more experience with them than
me. That took a bit of extra time and also some time went into
discussions with developers about what bindings are and what not.
I have the feeling that the workflow with bindings should be
improved to scale better. I will spend some more thought on
     this...

   - i2c-muxes are succesfully used meanwhile, so we dropped
EXPERIMENTAL for them and renamed the drivers to a standard pattern
to match the rest of the subsystem. They can also be used with
     devicetree now.

   - ixp2000 was removed since the whole platform goes away.

   - cleanups (strlcpy instead of strcpy, NULL instead of 0)

   - The rest is typical driver fixes I assume.

All patches have been in linux-next at least since v3.4-rc6."

Fixed up trivial conflict in arch/arm/mach-lpc32xx/common.c due to the
same patch already having come in through the arm/soc trees, with
additional patches on top of it.

Fix up trivial conflicts in drivers/gpio/gpio-samsung.c that look much
worse than they are: the exonys5 init code was refactored in commit
fd454997d6 ("gpio: samsung: refactor gpiolib init for exynos4/5"), and
then commit f10590c983 ("ARM: EXYNOS: add GPC4 bank instance") added a
new gpio chip define and did tiny updates to the init code.

f2fde3a65e Merge branch 'drm-core-next' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux
Pull main drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"This is the main merge window request for the drm.

It's big, but jam packed will lots of features and of course 0
regressions. (okay maybe there'll be one).

  Highlights:

   - new KMS drivers for server GPU chipsets: ast, mgag200 and cirrus
(qemu only). These drivers use the generic modesetting drivers.

   - initial prime/dma-buf support for i915, nouveau, radeon, udl and
     exynos

   - switcheroo audio support: so GPUs with HDMI can turn off the sound
     driver without crashing stuff.

   - There are some patches drifting outside drivers/gpu into x86 and
EFI for better handling of multiple video adapters in Apple Macs,
they've got correct acks except one trivial fixup.

   - Core:
edid parser has better DMT and reduced blanking support,
	crtc properties,
	plane properties,

   - Drivers:
exynos: add 2D core accel support, prime support, hdmi features
intel: more Haswell support, initial Valleyview support, more
hdmi infoframe fixes, update MAINTAINERS for Daniel, lots of
	    cleanups and fixes
radeon: more HDMI audio support, improved GPU lockup recovery
support, remove nested mutexes, less memory copying on PCIE, fix
bus master enable race (kexec), improved fence handling
gma500: cleanups, 1080p support, acpi fixes
nouveau: better nva3 memory reclocking, kepler accel (needs
external firmware rip), async buffer moves on nv84+ hw.

I've some more dma-buf patches that rely on the dma-buf merge for vmap
stuff, and I've a few fixes building up, but I'd decided I'd better
get rid of the main pull sooner rather than later, so the audio guys
  are also unblocked."

d5b4bb4d10 Merge branch 'delete-mca' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/paulg/linux
Pull the MCA deletion branch from Paul Gortmaker:
"It was good that we could support MCA machines back in the day, but
realistically, nobody is using them anymore. They were mostly limited
to 386-sx 16MHz CPU and some 486 class machines and never more than
64MB of RAM. Even the enthusiast hobbyist community seems to have
dried up close to ten years ago, based on what you can find searching
various websites dedicated to the relatively short lived hardware.

So lets remove the support relating to CONFIG_MCA. There is no point
  carrying this forward, wasting cycles doing routine maintenance on it;
wasting allyesconfig build time on validating it, wasting I/O on git
grep'ping over it, and so on."

Let's see if anybody screams. It generally has compiled, and James
Bottomley pointed out that there was a MCA extension from NCR that
allowed for up to 4GB of memory and PPro-class machines. So in *theory*
there may be users out there.

But even James (technically listed as a maintainer) doesn't actually
have a system, and while Alan Cox claims to have a machine in his cellar
that he offered to anybody who wants to take it off his hands, he didn't
argue for keeping MCA support either.

So we could bring it back. But somebody had better speak up and talk
about how they have actually been using said MCA hardware with modern
kernels for us to do that. And David already took the patch to delete
all the networking driver code (commit a5e371f61a: "drivers/net:
delete all code/drivers depending on CONFIG_MCA").

* 'delete-mca' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/paulg/linux:
MCA: delete all remaining traces of microchannel bus support.
scsi: delete the MCA specific drivers and driver code
serial: delete the MCA specific 8250 support.
arm: remove ability to select CONFIG_MCA

2c13bc0f8f Merge branch 'sbp-target-merge' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nab/target-pending
Pull sbp-2 (firewire) target mode support from Nicholas Bellinger:
"The FireWire SBP-2 Target is a driver for using an IEEE-1394
connection as a SCSI transport. This module uses the SCSI Target
framework to expose LUNs to other machines attached to a FireWire bus,
in effect acting as a FireWire hard disk similar to FireWire Target
Disk mode on many Apple computers.

Also included are the two drivers/firewire/ patches required by
sbp-target to access fw_request fabric speed needed for mgt_agent
TCODE_WRITE_BLOCK_REQUEST ops, and exporting fw_card kref logic used
when creating/destroying active session references to individual
  endpoints.

A credit goes to Chris in being able to get this code up and running
so quickly w/o any target core changes, and special thanks goes out to
Stefan Richter + Clemens Ladisch + Andy Grover for their help in
getting this driver ready for mainline. Also, one of Chris's goals
was to be able to connect sbp-target to a PowerPC based MacOS-X based
client, that he accomplished along the way in this obligatory
  screenshot:

2e341ca686 Sound updates for 3.5-rc1
This is the first big chunk for 3.5 merges of sound stuff.
There are a few big changes in different areas. First off, the
streaming logic of USB-audio endpoints has been largely rewritten
for the better support of "implicit feedback". If anything about USB
got broken, this change has to be checked.

For HD-audio, the resume procedure was changed; instead of delaying
the resume of the hardware until the first use, now waking up immediately
at resume. This is for buggy BIOS.

For ASoC, dynamic PCM support and the improved support for digital links
between off-SoC devices are major framework changes.

 Some highlights are below:

 * HD-audio
 - Avoid the accesses of invalid pin-control bits that may stall the codec
 - V-ref setup cleanups
 - Fix the races in power-saving code
 - Fix the races in codec cache hashes and connection lists
 - Split some common codes for BIOS auto-parser to hda_auto_parser.c
 - Changed the PM resume code to wake up immediately for buggy BIOS
 - Creative SoundCore3D support
 - Add Conexant CX20751/2/3/4 codec support

 * ASoC
 - Dynamic PCM support, allowing support for SoCs with internal routing
through components with tight sequencing and formatting constraints
within their internal paths or where there are multiple components
connected with CPU managed DMA controllers inside the SoC.
 - Greatly improved support for direct digital links between off-SoC
devices, providing a much simpler way of connecting things like digital
   basebands to CODECs.
 - Much more fine grained and robust locking, cleaning up some of the
confusion that crept in with multi-component.
 - CPU support for nVidia Tegra 30 I2S and audio hub controllers and
   ST-Ericsson MSP I2S controolers
 - New CODEC drivers for Cirrus CS42L52, LAPIS Semiconductor ML26124, Texas
   Instruments LM49453.
 - Some regmap changes needed by the Tegra I2S driver.
 - mc13783 audio support.

 * Misc
 - Rewrite with module_pci_driver()
 - Xonar DGX support for snd-oxygen
 - Improvement of packet handling in snd-firewire driver
 - New USB-endpoint streaming logic
 - Enhanced M-audio FTU quirks and relevant cleanups
 - Increment the support of OSS devices to 256
 - snd-aloop accuracy improvement

There are a few more pending changes for 3.5, but they will be
sent slightly later as partly depending on the changes of DRM.

fb09bafda6 Staging tree pull request for 3.5-rc1
Here is the big staging tree pull request for the 3.5-rc1 merge window.

Loads of changes here, and we just narrowly added more lines than we
 added:
  622 files changed, 28356 insertions(+), 26059 deletions(-)

But, good news is that there is a number of subsystems that moved out of
the staging tree, to their respective "real" portions of the kernel.

 Code that moved out was:
 	- iio core code
 	- mei driver
 	- vme core and bridge drivers

There was one broken network driver that moved into staging as a step
before it is removed from the tree (pc300), and there was a few new
 drivers added to the tree:
 	- new iio drivers
 	- gdm72xx wimax USB driver
 	- ipack subsystem and 2 drivers

All of the movements around have acks from the various subsystem
maintainers, and all of this has been in the linux-next tree for a
 while.

Merge tag 'staging-3.5-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/staging

Pull staging tree changes from Greg Kroah-Hartman:
"Here is the big staging tree pull request for the 3.5-rc1 merge
  window.

Loads of changes here, and we just narrowly added more lines than we
  added:
   622 files changed, 28356 insertions(+), 26059 deletions(-)

But, good news is that there is a number of subsystems that moved out
of the staging tree, to their respective "real" portions of the
  kernel.

  Code that moved out was:
	- iio core code
	- mei driver
	- vme core and bridge drivers

There was one broken network driver that moved into staging as a step
before it is removed from the tree (pc300), and there was a few new
  drivers added to the tree:
	- new iio drivers
	- gdm72xx wimax USB driver
	- ipack subsystem and 2 drivers

All of the movements around have acks from the various subsystem
maintainers, and all of this has been in the linux-next tree for a
  while.

  Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>"

Fixed up various trivial conflicts, along with a non-trivial one found
in -next and pointed out by Olof Johanssen: a clean - but incorrect -
merge of the arch/arm/boot/dts/at91sam9g20.dtsi file. Fix up manually
as per Stephen Rothwell.

a481991467 USB 3.5-rc1 pull request
Here is the big USB 3.5-rc1 pull request for the 3.5-rc1 merge window.

It's touches a lot of different parts of the kernel, all USB drivers,
due to some API cleanups (getting rid of the ancient err() macro) and
some changes that are needed for USB 3.0 power management updates.

There are also lots of new drivers, pimarily gadget, but others as well.
We deleted a staging driver, which was nice, and finally dropped the
obsolete usbfs code, which will make Al happy to never have to touch
 that again.

There were some build errors in the tree that linux-next found a few
days ago, but those were fixed by the most recent changes (all were due
to us not building with CONFIG_PM disabled.)

813a95e5b4 arm-soc: soc-specific pinctrl changes
With this, five platforms are moving to the relatively new pinctrl
subsystem for their pin management, replacing the older soc specific
 in-kernel interfaces with common code.

There is quite a bit of net addition of code for each platform being
added to the pinctrl subsystem. but the payback comes later when adding
new boards can be done by only providing new device trees instead.

9bc747bea5 arm-soc: First batch of cleanups
These cleanups are basically all over the place. The idea is to collect
changes with minimal impact but large number of changes so we can avoid
them from distracting in the diffstat in the other series.

A significant number of lines get removed here, in particular because
the ixp2000 and ixp23xx platforms get removed. These have never been
extremely popular and have fallen into disuse over time with no active
maintainer taking care of them. The u5500 soc never made it into a
product, so we are removing it from the ux500 platform.

Many good cleanups also went into the at91 and omap platforms, as has
been the case for a number of releases.

that have no RCU callbacks. Posted to LKML:
       https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/23/322.

 4) Lai Jiangshan's algorithmic implementation of SRCU, which includes

e346933365 isci update for 3.5
1/ Rework remote-node-context (RNC) handling for proper management of
the silicon state machine in error handling and hot-plug conditions.
Further details below, suffice to say if the RNC is mismanaged the
silicon state machines may lock up.

2/ Refactor the initialization code to be reused for suspend/resume support

3/ Miscellaneous bug fixes to address discovery issues and hardware
    compatibility.

RNC rework details from Jeff Skirvin:

In the controller, devices as they appear on a SAS domain (or
direct-attached SATA devices) are represented by memory structures known
as "Remote Node Contexts" (RNCs). These structures are transferred from
main memory to the controller using a set of register commands; these
commands include setting up the context ("posting"), removing the
context ("invalidating"), and commands to control the scheduling of
commands and connections to that remote device ("suspensions" and
"resumptions"). There is a similar path to control RNC scheduling from
the protocol engine, which interprets the results of command and data
 transmission and reception.

In general, the controller chooses among non-suspended RNCs to find one
that has work requiring scheduling the transmission of command and data
frames to a target. Likewise, when a target tries to return data back
to the initiator, the state of the RNC is used by the controller to
determine how to treat the incoming request. As an example, if the RNC
is in the state "TX/RX Suspended", incoming SSP connection requests from
the target will be rejected by the controller hardware. When an RNC is
"TX Suspended", it will not be selected by the controller hardware to
start outgoing command or data operations (with certain priority-based
 exceptions).

As mentioned above, there are two sources for management of the RNC
states: commands from driver software, and the result of transmission
and reception conditions of commands and data signaled by the controller
hardware. As an example of the latter, if an outgoing SSP command ends
with a OPEN_REJECT(BAD_DESTINATION) status, the RNC state will
transition to the "TX Suspended" state, and this is signaled by the
controller hardware in the status to the completion of the pending
command as well as signaled in a controller hardware event. Examples of
the former are included in the patch changelogs.

Driver software is required to suspend the RNC in a "TX/RX Suspended"
condition before any outstanding commands can be terminated. Failure to
guarantee this can lead to a complete hardware hang condition. Earlier
versions of the driver software did not guarantee that an RNC was
correctly managed before I/O termination, and so operated in an unsafe
 way.

Further, the driver performed unnecessary contortions to preserve the
remote device command state and so was more complicated than it needed
to be. A simplifying driver assumption is that once an I/O has entered
the error handler path without having completed in the target, the
requirement on the driver is that all use of the sas_task must end.
Beyond that, recovery of operation is dependent on libsas and other
components to reset, rediscover and reconfigure the device before normal
operation can restart. In the driver, this simplifying assumption meant
that the RNC management could be reduced to entry into the suspended
state, terminating the targeted I/O request, and resuming the RNC as
needed for device-specific management such as an SSP Abort Task or LUN
 Reset Management request.

8206f664bf floppy: take over maintainership
I have fought the current maintainer to the death in the Thunderdome
[1] https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/5/16/370

Umm, actually, there is noone taking care of the driver due to lack
of real hardware, and I still have some. The driver exposes bugs on
emulated/virtualized devices (mostly due to timing), but it's essential
to verify the fixes against a real hardware as well (which has been
holding back some of the fixes).

bb8187d35f MCA: delete all remaining traces of microchannel bus support.
Hardware with MCA bus is limited to 386 and 486 class machines
that are now 20+ years old and typically with less than 32MB
of memory. A quick search on the internet, and you see that
even the MCA hobbyist/enthusiast community has lost interest
in the early 2000 era and never really even moved ahead from
the 2.4 kernels to the 2.6 series.

This deletes anything remaining related to CONFIG_MCA from core
kernel code and from the x86 architecture. There is no point in
carrying this any further into the future.

One complication to watch for is inadvertently scooping up
stuff relating to machine check, since there is overlap in
the TLA name space (e.g. arch/x86/boot/mca.c).

 1)	A set of improvements and fixes to the RCU_FAST_NO_HZ feature
(with more on the way for 3.6). Posted to LKML:
	https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/23/324 (commits 1-3 and 5),

	https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/30/390 (commit 6), and
	https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/5/4/410 (commit 7, combined with
the other commits for the convenience of the tester).

 2)	Changes to make rcu_barrier() avoid disrupting execution of CPUs
that have no RCU callbacks. Posted to LKML:
	https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/23/322.

 3)	A couple of commits that improve the efficiency of the interaction
between preemptible RCU and the scheduler, these two being all
that survived an abortive attempt to allow preemptible RCU's
__rcu_read_lock() to be inlined. The full set was posted to
LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/14/143, and the first and
third patches of that set remain.

 4)	Lai Jiangshan's algorithmic implementation of SRCU, which includes
call_srcu() and srcu_barrier(). A major feature of this new
implementation is that synchronize_srcu() no longer disturbs
the execution of other CPUs. This work is based on earlier
implementations by Peter Zijlstra and Paul E. McKenney. Posted to
	LKML: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/2/22/82.

 5)	A number of miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements which were
posted to LKML at: https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/4/23/353 with
	subsequent updates posted to LKML.

Since cpufreq has no official maintainer at the moment, I'm willing
to maintain it along some other power management core code I've been
maintaining already.

b4f0b74ea3 i2c: muxes: rename first set of drivers to a standard pattern
Apply a naming pattern like in the rest of the subsystem to a first set
of mux drivers. Those drivers are the low-hanging fruit; we want to pick
them to motivate upcoming drivers to follow the new pattern. The missing
GPIO driver will be converted in a later patch.
