The kprobes code is already able to cope with reentrant probes, so its

could be reverted.

This is a full implementation of Kprobes including Jprobes and
Kretprobes support.
This ARM implementation does not follow the usual kprobes double-
exception model. The traditional model is where the initial kprobes
breakpoint calls kprobe_handler(), which returns from exception to
execute the instruction in its original context, then immediately
re-enters after a second breakpoint (or single-stepping exception)
into post_kprobe_handler(), each time the probe is hit.. The ARM
implementation only executes one kprobes exception per hit, so no
post_kprobe_handler() phase. All side-effects from the kprobe'd
instruction are resolved before returning from the initial exception.
As a result, all instructions are _always_ effectively boosted
regardless of the type of instruction, and even regardless of whether
or not there is a post-handler for the probe.

This is the code implementing instruction single-stepping for kprobes
on ARM.
To get around the limitation of no Next-PC and no hardware single-
stepping, all kprobe'd instructions are split into three camps:
simulation, emulation, and rejected. "Simulated" instructions are
those instructions which behavior is reproduced by straight C code.
"Emulated" instructions are ones that are copied, slightly altered
and executed directly in the instruction slot to reproduce their
behavior. "Rejected" instructions are ones that could be simulated,
but work hasn't been put into simulating them. These instructions
should be very rare, if not unencountered, in the kernel. If ever
needed, code could be added to simulate them.
One might wonder why this and the ptrace singlestep facility are not
sharing some code. Both approaches are fundamentally different because
the ptrace code regains control after the stepped instruction by installing
a breakpoint after the instruction itself, and possibly at the location
where the instruction might be branching to, instead of simulating or
emulating the target instruction.
The ptrace approach isn't suitable for kprobes because the breakpoints
would have to be moved back, and the icache flushed, everytime the
probe is hit to let normal code execution resume, which would have a
significant performance impact. It is also racy on SMP since another
CPU could, with the right timing, sail through the probe point without
being caught. Because ptrace single-stepping always result in a
different process to be scheduled, the concern for performance is much
less significant.
On the other hand, the kprobes approach isn't (currently) suitable for
ptrace because it has no provision for proper user space memory
protection and translation, and even if that was implemented, the gain
wouldn't be worth the added complexity in the ptrace path compared to
the current approach.
So, until kprobes does support user space, both kprobes and ptrace are
best kept independent and separate.

Wakeup sources on PXA3 are enabled at two levels. First, the MFP
configuration has to be set to enable which edges a specific pin
will trigger a wakeup. The pin also has to be routed to a functional
unit. Lastly, the functional unit must be enabled as a wakeup source
in the appropriate AD*ER registers (AD2D0ER for standby resume.)
This doesn't fit well with the IRQ wake scheme - we currently do a
best effort conversion from IRQ numbers to functional unit wake enable
bits. For instance, there's several USB client related enable bits but
there's no corresponding IRQs to determine which you'd want. Conversely,
there's a single enable bit covering several functional units.
Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
There are two reasons for making the MFP configuration to be processor
independent, i.e. removing the relationship of configuration bits with
actual MFPR register settings:
1. power management sometimes requires the MFP to be configured
differently when in run mode or in low power mode
2. for future integration of pxa{25x,27x} GPIO configurations
The modifications include:
1. introducing of processor independent MFP configuration bits, as
defined in [include/asm-arm/arch-pxa/mfp.h]:
bit 0.. 9 - MFP Pin Number (1024 Pins Maximum)
bit 10..12 - Alternate Function Selection
bit 13..15 - Drive Strength
bit 16..18 - Low Power Mode State
bit 19..20 - Low Power Mode Edge Detection
bit 21..22 - Run Mode Pull State
and so on,
2. moving the processor dependent code from mfp.h into mfp-pxa3xx.h
3. cleaning up of the MFPR bit definitions
4. mapping of processor independent MFP configuration into processor
specific MFPR register settings is now totally encapsulated within
pxa3xx_mfp_config()
5. using of "unsigned long" instead of invented type of "mfp_cfg_t"
according to Documentation/CodingStyle Chapter 5, usage of this
in platform code will be slowly removed in later patches

This patch allows the VFP support code to run correctly on CPUs
compatible with the common VFP subarchitecture specification (Appendix
B in the ARM ARM v7-A and v7-R edition). It implements support for VFP
subarchitecture 2 while being backwards compatible with
subarchitecture 1.
On VFP subarchitecture 1, the arithmetic exceptions are asynchronous
(or imprecise as described in the old ARM ARM) unless the FPSCR.IXE
bit is 1. The exceptional instructions can be read from FPINST and
FPINST2 registers. With VFP subarchitecture 2, the arithmetic
exceptions can also be synchronous and marked by the FPEXC.DEX bit
(the FPEXC.EX bit is cleared). CPUs implementing the synchronous
arithmetic exceptions don't have the FPINST and FPINST2 registers and
accessing them would trigger and undefined exception.
Note that FPEXC.EX bit has an additional meaning on subarchitecture 1
- if it isn't set, there is no additional information in FPINST and
FPINST2 that needs to be saved at context switch or when lazy-loading
the VFP state of a different thread.
The patch also removes the clearing of the cumulative exception flags in
FPSCR when additional exceptions were raised. It is up to the user
application to clear these bits.

For kernel addresses between TASK_SIZE and PAGE_OFFSET,
flush_tlb_kern_range() does not work as would be expected.
The TLB invalidate works with a matching ASID, or on entries marked as
global. The set_pte_at() macro marks addresses >= PAGE_OFFSET as
global, but not addresses from TASK_SIZE to PAGE_OFFSET, which are
also kernel addresses.
The result is that the entries in this range are not actually
invalidated by flush_tlb_kern_range().
This patch instead marks addresses >= TASK_SIZE as global.

Change the page member of the scatterlist structure to be an unsigned
long, and encode more stuff in the lower bits:
- Bits 0 and 1 zero: this is a normal sg entry. Next sg entry is located
at sg + 1.
- Bit 0 set: this is a chain entry, the next real entry is at ->page_link
with the two low bits masked off.
- Bit 1 set: this is the final entry in the sg entry. sg_next() will return
NULL when passed such an entry.
It's thus important that sg table users use the proper accessors to get
and set the page member.

Move the definition of 'struct pm_ops' and related functions from <linux/pm.h>
to <linux/suspend.h> .
There are, at least, the following reasons to do that:
* 'struct pm_ops' is specifically related to suspend and not to the power
management in general.
* As long as 'struct pm_ops' is defined in <linux/pm.h>, any modification of it
causes the entire kernel to be recompiled, which is unnecessary and annoying.
* Some suspend-related features are already defined in <linux/suspend.h>, so it
is logical to move the definition of 'struct pm_ops' into there.
* 'struct hibernation_ops', being the hibernation-related counterpart of
'struct pm_ops', is defined in <linux/suspend.h> .

then it doesn't cause warnings, namely by:

#endif

The i.MX frame-buffer read operation should be faster for all configurations
then drawing each individual character again in response to scroll events.
The nonstandard fields allows to configure frame-buffer special options flags
for different display configurations by board specific initialization code.
One of such specific options is reversed order of pixels in each individual
byte. i.MX frame-buffer seems to be designed for big-endian use first. The
byte order is correctly configured for little-endian ordering, but if 1, 2 or
4 bits per pixel are used, pixels ordering is incompatible to Linux generic
frame-buffer drawing functions.
The patch "Allow generic BitBLT functions to work with swapped pixel order in
bytes" introduces required functionality into FBDEV core. The pixels ordering
selection has to be enabled at compile time CONFIG_FB_CFB_REV_PIXELS_IN_BYTE
and for each display configuration which requires it by flag
FB_NONSTD_REV_PIX_IN_B in "nonstd" field of info structure.

This patch adds support for the other three palette formats possible with
the PXA LCD controller. This is required on boards where an LCD is connected
with all its 18 bits. With this patch, it's possible to use an 8-bit mode
with 18-bit palette entries. This used to be possible in 2.4 kernels but
disappeared in 2.6. With current kernels, you can only get wrong colours
out of an LCD connected this way.
Users can choose the palette format by doing something like this
in their board definition:
static struct pxafb_mach_info my_fb_info = {
[...]
.lccr3 = LCCR3_OutEnH | LCCR3_PixFlEdg | LCCR3_PDFOR_3,

pxa_gpio_mode() is a universal call that fiddles with the GAFR
(gpio alternate function register.) GAFR does not exist on PXA3
CPUs, but instead the alternate functions are controlled via the
MFP support code.
Platforms are expected to configure the MFP according to their
needs in their platform support code rather than drivers. We
extend this idea to the GAFR, and make the gpio_direction_*()
functions purely operate on the GPIO level.
This means platform support code is entirely responsible for
configuring the GPIOs alternate functions on all PXA CPU types.

This patch resolves a kexec boot failure that can occur because
no ATAGs are passed in to the kexec'd kernel. Currently the
newly-kexec'd kernel may fail if it requires specific ATAGs, or
it may fail because the fixed memory location at which it expects
to find the ATAGs may contain random data instead of ATAGs.
The patch ensures that any ATAGs passed to the current kernel
at boot time are copied to a static buffer, and are copied back
when kexec copies the new kernel into place. Thus the new
kernel sees the same ATAGs from kexec and the boot loader.
The boot parameters are copied without regard to type, content,
or length -- this patch's scope is limited soley to saving and
restoring a fixed-size block of memory containing the kernel's
boot parameters. Additional functionality to examine, alter, or
replace the ATAGs (using kexec, for example) can be implemented
by manipulating the static buffer containing the preserved ATAGs.
Note: the size of the buffer (1.5KB) is selected to comfortably
hold one of each ATAG type, including a maximum-length command
line and the maximum number of ATAG_MEM structures currently
supported by the kernel. Should an ATAG list exceed that limit,
the list will be silently truncated to that limit (to do other-
wise at that point in the boot process would make a simple
problem exceedingly complicated).
[Note: this is the same patch as 4579, modified to accomodate
the ATAG changes introduced in 2.6.23]

pxa_gpio_mode(), thus creating inconsistencies for support of pxa25x
and pxa27x in a single zImage.
As David Brownell suggests, make it a run-time variable and initialize
at run-time according to the number of GPIOs on the processor. For now
the initialization happens in pxa_init_irq_gpio(), since there is
already a parameter for that, besides, this is and MUST be earlier
than any subsequent calls to pxa_gpio_mode().

Additional cleanup for debug boards on H2/P2/H3/H4: move the init
code that's not board-specific into a new file where it can be easily
shared between all the different boards (avoiding code duplication,
and making it easier to support more devices). Make H4 use that.
This should be easy to drop in to the OMAP1 boards using these debug
cards; the only difference seems to be that the p2 does an extra reset
of the smc using the fpga (probably all boards could do that, if it's
necessary) and doesn't use the gpio mux or request APIs.

GPMC updates:
- bugfixes: wrong/missing flags, omitted write, wrong test
- don't map memory segments starting at zero
- improve debug messaging
- export gpmc_get_fclk_perio]d() since it's needed to calc timings
- expect gpmc_cs_set_timings() caller to have initialized sync vs async
Note that this API is glitchy; likely the best fix would be to add
a member to "struct gpmc_timings" to hold GPMC_CONFIG1, since that
holds one key aspect of the GPMC timings (the gpmc_fclk divisor,
and sync vs. async == whether that divisor matters).

The main driver exports functions and the header file exports
the command values. When talking to the MCU the general procedure
is to start MCU, send command (using ssp_inout(command)), the
proper reply is always TXDUMMY. After receiving TXDUMMY you can
send the value you wish pushed (for example brightness level).
End with ssp_end() so the spinlock gets unlocked.

In order for this driver to be shared across the iop architectures the
iop3xx and iop13xx header files are modified to present a common interface
for the iop_wdt driver.
Details:
* iop13xx supports disabling the timer while iop3xx does not. This requires
a few 'compatibility' definitions in include/asm-arm/hardware/iop3xx.h to
preclude adding #ifdef CONFIG_ARCH_IOP13XX blocks to the driver code.
* The heartbeat interval is derived from the internal bus clock rate, so this
this patch also exports the tick rate to the iop_wdt driver.

The Intel(R) IOP series of i/o processors integrate an Xscale core with
raid acceleration engines. The capabilities per platform are:
iop219:
(2) copy engines
iop321:
(2) copy engines
(1) xor and block fill engine
iop33x:
(2) copy and crc32c engines
(1) xor, xor zero sum, pq, pq zero sum, and block fill engine
iop34x (iop13xx):
(2) copy, crc32c, xor, xor zero sum, and block fill engines
(1) copy, crc32c, xor, xor zero sum, pq, pq zero sum, and block fill engine
The driver supports the features of the async_tx api:
* asynchronous notification of operation completion
* implicit (interupt triggered) handling of inter-channel transaction
dependencies
The driver adapts to the platform it is running by two methods.
1/ #include <asm/arch/adma.h> which defines the hardware specific
iop_chan_* and iop_desc_* routines as a series of static inline
functions
2/ The private platform data attached to the platform_device defines the
capabilities of the channels
20070626: Callbacks are run in a tasklet. Given the recent discussion on
LKML about killing tasklets in favor of workqueues I did a quick conversion
of the driver. Raid5 resync performance dropped from 50MB/s to 30MB/s, so
the tasklet implementation remains until a generic softirq interface is
available.
Changelog:
* fixed a slot allocation bug in do_iop13xx_adma_xor that caused too few
slots to be requested eventually leading to data corruption
* enabled the slot allocation routine to attempt to free slots before
returning -ENOMEM
* switched the cleanup routine to solely use the software chain and the
status register to determine if a descriptor is complete. This is
necessary to support other IOP engines that do not have status writeback
capability
* make the driver iop generic
* modified the allocation routines to understand allocating a group of
slots for a single operation
* added a null xor initialization operation for the xor only channel on
iop3xx
* support xor operations on buffers larger than the hardware maximum
* split the do_* routines into separate prep, src/dest set, submit stages
* added async_tx support (dependent operations initiation at cleanup time)
* simplified group handling
* added interrupt support (callbacks via tasklets)

When running Linux in non-secure mode (on ARM1176 for example),
depending on the CP15 secure configuration register, the CPSR.F bit
(6) might only be modified from the secure mode. However, the
valid_user_regs() function checks for this bit being cleared. With
commit a6c61e9d, a SIGSEGV is forced in handle_signal() if the user
registers are not considered valid.
The patch also ensures that the CPSR.A bit is cleared and the USR mode
is set if the CPU does not support the 26bit user mode.

Since the number of dma channels varies between pxa25x and pxa27x, it
introduces some specific code in dma.c. This patch moves the specific
code to pxa25x.c and pxa27x.c and makes dma.c more generic.
1. add pxa_init_dma() for dma initialization, the number of channels
are passed in by the argument
2. add a "prio" field to the "struct pxa_dma_channel" for the channel
priority, and is initialized in pxa_init_dma()
3. use a general priority comparison with the channels "prio" field so
to remove the processor specific pxa_for_each_dma_prio macro, this
is not lightning fast as the original one, but it is acceptable as
it happens when requesting dma, which is usually not so performance
critical

1. PXA_IRQ_SKIP is defined to be 7 on PXA25x so that the first IRQ
starts from zero. This makes IRQ numbering inconsistent between
PXA25x and PXA27x. Remove this macro so that the same IRQ_XXXXX
definition has the same value on both PXA25x and PXA27x.
2. make IRQ_SSP3..IRQ_PWRI2C valid only if PXA27x is defined, this
avoids unintentional use of these macros on PXA25x

Not all the world is an i386. Many architectures need 64-bit arguments to be
aligned in suitable pairs of registers, and the original
sys_sync_file_range(int, loff_t, loff_t, int) was therefore wasting an
argument register for padding after the first integer. Since we don't
normally have more than 6 arguments for system calls, that left no room for
the final argument on some architectures.
Fix this by introducing sys_sync_file_range2(int, int, loff_t, loff_t) which
all fits nicely. In fact, ARM already had that, but called it
sys_arm_sync_file_range. Move it to fs/sync.c and rename it, then implement
the needed compatibility routine. And stop the missing syscall check from
bitching about the absence of sys_sync_file_range() if we've implemented
sys_sync_file_range2() instead.

First thing mm.h does is including sched.h solely for can_do_mlock() inline
function which has "current" dereference inside. By dealing with can_do_mlock()
mm.h can be detached from sched.h which is good. See below, why.
This patch
a) removes unconditional inclusion of sched.h from mm.h
b) makes can_do_mlock() normal function in mm/mlock.c
c) exports can_do_mlock() to not break compilation
d) adds sched.h inclusions back to files that were getting it indirectly.
e) adds less bloated headers to some files (asm/signal.h, jiffies.h) that were
getting them indirectly
Net result is:
a) mm.h users would get less code to open, read, preprocess, parse, ... if
they don't need sched.h
b) sched.h stops being dependency for significant number of files:
on x86_64 allmodconfig touching sched.h results in recompile of 4083 files,
after patch it's only 3744 (-8.3%).
